Wondering if....
Got a hypothetical for you guys at castle. I have a MMM and have waterproofed it using the "jesi box" method (small sealed plastic box filled with 100 percent pure silicone oil) which I know would in general void the warranty. What i wanted to know is if I update to 1.28 and risk it bricking, am I completely SOL? Thanks.

Very small risk of bricking it - not heard of anyone doing so.
But as you invalidated the warranty - yes you would be SOL. |
Well that's the thing though, I didn't alter anything inside the esc nor did I even open the case. I have heard of quite a few people bricking theirs over on the Traxxas and BYT forums, and I don't want to have to send mine back, wait a couple weeks, and pay 70 dollars all at the same time. I guess I'm gonna have to get a spare and then try it. As for the non-warranty repairs that covers anything at all right?
|
Yes, flat rate non warranty repair. Pretty cheap to turn a fried MMM into a new MMM if you ask me.
|
The issue was for one day with MM that were updated via the USB port - Have way through the ESC update the firmware support for the onboard USB was removed.
It was a glitch in the release that was fixed quickly - I'm not aware of any issues with the MMM. |
The MMM is the one I have heard of having the issue more. As you said with the MM it seemed like the issues was losing connection halfway through the process, and then locking up/failing. With the MMM issues I have heard of, everything goes properly and then in the end people run into issues with the ESC just not working, although it says it was successful.
