The Truth about caring for your Lipo Packs
Here's a VERY good read about the proper care of Lipo Packs.
Please save yourself some money and alot of frustration, and have a look. http://www.tmenet.com/pdf/LithiumBatterySecrets.doc.pdf |

So, basically, all of my batteries have lost 30% capacity already?

Def. a good read. Should make that a sticky somewhere. I learned something about my laptop - I've replaced the battery in it twice so far over the last 3+ years, and probably only have used it on battery power 2 or three times. I had wondered (not for long....though) if I could run it without the battery in it.

Great I can see a bunch of us here buying those mini fridges now just for this application.
Lots of good info, feel ashamed knowing that I am one to cause much of my lipos destruction, especially since I have had one lipo sort of sit out for more than a year at room temp, should of been in the fridge. Wonder with this info, if true, will cause a change in the way most purchase lipos. Buying from certain manufacturers can have different circumstances. As far as I know the freshest lipos come from their homeland, and that would mean the freshest lipos may be sold by those closest to their birthplace. It also puts even more pressure on those companies that do guarantee certain aspects of their lipos, seeing that they are shipped from the homeland and sit waiting to be sold or made into packs to be sold. Makes you wonder really how long your lipos sat after creation before placed in your hands. I think the manufacturers should look into a dating system, much like the expiration date on alkalines, except instead of a death date, we need a date of creation. |
Great idea, A "Born On" date just like Budweisers !?

Good read. Actually pretty proud of myself... I follow most of those rules already.
I always charge my heat packs to just 4.10v per cell But my mains do get charged to 4.28v per cell (but only these packs, which is only 5 of my 24 lipos) I always store all my lipos at 3.8v-3.85v per cell Now I always keep them in my house and I love it cold in my house all year long but now I'm thinking of bringing my spare old college fridge into my manroom just to store my lipos... only because I don't think my wife would like 24 lipos in the fridge! |
good read, while I've been following that advise for a year (people think I'm crazy for putting my lipos in the freezer) it's good to see that another corroborates the data :)
