GS Racing Truggy BL conversion
Hi Guy's,
New here and after reading a lot of this forum i have seen some really well built machines. Here is a quick post of mine i just did in the last couple of weeks. I like home mode stuff, good job! But ...
I would try to move the motor to the front left. There seems to be room and it will help your CoG / handling a lot. Than you can place the ESC on the servo for short motor cables and good weight distribution. |
you should get the motor mounted lower, right on the chassis. you have enought space for it. otherwise the center of gravity is too high, which is bad for the handling.

Thanks guy's i'll have a look into moving it, i can see what you mean and i did look into it but i thought it would of un balanced the chassis to much, what do you think?
I thought i should add that i don't race, just bash around. |
it makes a huge difference, when you keep the cog low. for example, with my last truggy conversion, I mounted the esc on the steering servo, like I had it in the buggy. but it didn't feel good, especially flying was bad, so I moved the esc right onto the chassis, behind the batteries (I have a different setup, batteries left, motor right). much better. drives and jumps more stable.
In an other truggy, I had the esc right behind the steering servo (pretty narrow), but great handling. the alloy of the mount seems a bit thin, like that it may cause some flex. that causes wear on the pinion. the mount should be mounted on the center diff and on the chassis (alloy angle bracket). still, I like your self made stuff, by the way!! left/right balance is important too, but low cog is more important I think. |
Thanks for that florianz. i have been thinking more & more about moving the motor down to the side of the centre diff, i'm not really that happy about where it is mainly because of the flex i'll get but what you say makes sence about the side to side weight, it's not as important than the low COG.
I'll have a look this weekend and keep you posted, with pic's of course. |
