4 wheel steering Savage
Hello People
Can anyone help me with a usefull link that shows me how to make a 4 wheel steering savage with 2 servo's on one channel. The mod on the rear steering should be something mechanical Thanks for you help |
Search for threads by "Finnster" on this forum. He has a 4WS savage that he is now converting to a large scale.

I saw finnsters 4ws bud it is not clear to me how he solved the backsteering.
I only can see that he used 2 servo's I think he uses a separate chanel for each servo |
In order to use the servos on the same signal, you just need a Y-harness to plug them into and then plug into the receiver.
Depending on which way the servo makes the wheels turn, you may have to rotate the servo to get the correct swing in the rear. |

I dont know what transmitter/reciever youre using. You may be able to use an aux. channel. That way you will be able to fine tune the rear steer to your liking.

Yeah, I used a 3ch radio (futaba faast) and ran the R servo on the 3rd chan.
You may want to consider this 1st instead of a simple Y. The problem is that the rear servo must be in turn in the opposite direction as the front. If you use a simple-Y, the truck will just turn all wheels the same way and crabwalk. Also, I set my rear str for much less travel than the front for better controlability, as full travel really kicked the back end out hard. The other solution would be to mount the servos on the same rail and reverse the servo saver rack. Only problem with that is that the Savage's servo saver posts are not symetrical and cannot just be reversed left to right. You would have to come up with a different servo saver to do it. Not impossible, just easier to have a 3ch and control everything from the radio |
What I was talking about re: servo saver. See how the arms bend out? They will face the wrong way of you flip them.

I started off with a nitro XL chassis, and had to make certain compromises based on where there was material to bolt stuff into. IDK what chassis you are starting off with, or how your motor sits, so may have to come up with different solutions |
Hello People
Thanks for all the info @ Bryan I will be using a Spektrum DX3S ( don't know if I can use the third channel for steering ) I was told that you need a airplan transmitter if I wanted to use a third channel for steering. @ Finnster I will be doing the steering mod on the TCS XL tvp's with the castle 1520 motor |
I would think that radio should be able to do it. Is there any brake mixing or other channel mixing program?
