Mamba Max Pro or Monster for 1512 (1800kv) on 4s
Gday Folks,
Just wondering what the reccomendation for an ESC would be for the 1512 (1800kv) running 4s in a Slash 4x4 If I choose the Pro, I assume I can shorten the ESC wires and add 6.5mm bullets Will I need to change timing from the default ? I was thinking of gearing it 21/50 to start with and maybe even 25/50 if temps are ok Will just be used for bashing Cheers |
MMPro will be fine but with a HT servo you may need a BEC or just go with a MMM
|
I run a MMP w/1512 1.5Y Castle-Neu motor with no probs on 4s.
However I had to install a CC BEC to run a 7945TH. My install of the CC BEC is different than the instructions, I still use the internal BEC from the MMP to power the radio and transponder. While the CC BEC just powers the servo. I use a Y-adapter for the CC BEC and servo with the red wires connected to each other on the servo/bec side and the part that goes into the radio the red wire is disconnected. This is the ONLY true fix for using the MMP with a high voltage servo before going to a CC BEC PRO. |
Gday folks,
Installed the MMM / 1512 (1800kv) today in my Slash 4x4 and I love it Running 4s at the moment but will try 5s in the next few days However the bec doesnt seem to be coping, my RX voltage is dropping to below 5v (running an ACE DS1015 servo) but not browning out Will install an external bec to rule it out Cheers |
Yes but check your end points as you maybe stalling out the servo - the MMM has a pretty solid BEC.
After getting into rock crawling though I normally just add a BEC to all my setups now... |
Thanks for the response Arctik
Dialed back the steering servo EPA to 70% as suggested but the problem still exists Installed an external bec and the problem goes away Cheers |
forgive my ignorance...
what does the BEC do? control voltage to servo? where is it placed? how much are they? what is a decent one? Thanks |

Have a read of this. Might give you some of the info you are after. CLICK HERE. Most people use external BECs if they have a HV ESC, which usually don't have a BEC at all, and people that want to use servos that draw more current or operate at higher voltages than the ESCs BEC can suport. I have three cars all running the Castle Creations BEC and so far they have been bulletproof. Also love the way you can set the voltage to anything you desire. On one of my MTs I am using a Turnigy HV servo to twist the Big Joes tires I have and it does it so easily. I have the BEC set to 8.2 volts and I am also running a whole bunch of LEDs of it too. Great piece of gear the CC BEC is. |
Thanks a lot! Ill have a look now!

Same effect as far as I know one is accessed via the menu (travel / epa) while the other is easily adjusted on the fly via a knob (rate)

Hi guys, I'll soon have a Mamba Monster Pro + a Castle Creations Ext.Bec on my Mugen MBX6 electrified...
I'd like to know if there's anyone of you who can tell me wich voltage should I choose for an ACE1015 steering servo please... Thanks.. |
I use the same Servo and my Castle ccbec is set for 6v
I use the Spektrum DX3s and have servo travel set at 75% Cheers |
Perfect I'll have a 3PK radio + Spektrum module, should check for the end-points, isn't it??
|
Yes mate same thing
Cheers |
