flux with plastic spur?

Im kinda tired of wearing out $17 pinions. Seems no matter who makes them RCM, RRP, Novak etc they seem to wear kinda fast. Was thinking i would try a normal savage plastic spur and see how the pinions last. I never had a plastic spur fail on my erbe when i had it, but on my nitro savages i would go through them like once a week. Has anyone tried it on a flux?

yep i was using a 47t spur... i had the same prob but my spur was shredding pinion ever 5-10 runs so i thought why not wear a cheap plastic spur, and plus they are quick and easy to change....

Worked well for me and lasted longer than my pinion so i was happy!!! Also it runs so much more silent!!! BONUS!

right on, just what i wanted to hear. I remember the bronze bushing in the plastic spurs and having to pry them out whenever i had to change the spur.....where do you get that from? is it a part that only comes with a 20 dollar bag of useless crap i dont need? that would be my luck lol

you know what... i never really had a prob prying them out.... or you could just ask other savage users if they have any spare? thats how i got a couple of mine

i have been using a plastic spur on my flux for a while now and i love it. it makes it so much quieter and no more pinion wear. i've had no troubles with the spurs stripping except for once when the motor mount shifted.

OOOh, this sounds like a great idea.

The copper piece presses into the spur gear so it can spin on the shaft when the the slipper slips, its basically just a bushing. You can see where it goes in the picture that you linked to.

Is this the set with the copper bushing? Looks like it. Only $5

hmmm, this looks like a pretty good idea. If I ever strip another pinion (probably will by what you guys are saying) I'll have to try out the plastic spur :)

I'll be the next test dummy. I'm ordering some tonight.

That's the great thing about living down south. RC's outside year round.

I've already stated my reasons for not driving in winter, so i'm not repeating myself. Have fun in the snow, i'll be busy inside playing xbox games in my nice warm apartment, cuddling up with my cat, drinking a cup of hot chocolate with a hint of spiced rum and my girlfriend making holiday cookies and dinner in the kitchen.

Let us know if the 47t spur will let the motor fit with a 25t pinion. I'd rather have a plastic spur as well
