New body, new wheels (thanks reno911), all re-built

First off, this is pretty much a direct copy over from RCU thread, so don't bust my balls. I don't know how often people here visit there and vice verse....

I finally got it all up and running after the last session that left quite a few parts broken....
I saw a good deal on the wheels from reno911 he was very generous and worked the price down with me, so I couldn't resist.
The full offset is a little big....but I figure I got the tires cheaper than new, if I have to I'll take them off with Acetone and put them on some standard offset wheels, and still be ahead of buying the tires new. (barely)
I like the width, feels very planted.

The first many pictures are glamor shots....then action shots to follow Hope you like it.

Body paint turned out pretty good, I think the paint made the masking tape shrink a little bit after the first coat, and some of the tape wasn't on well to begin with, but I'm happy enough with it since I'm just going to bash it anyway.

Stocker wheels:

Broke the rear carries just tumbling down the hill. These wide offsets put more stress on them for sure. Going to buy a few more stock ones, (cheap cheap cheap!) if I blow through them all I'll get the integy ones for sure.

Thanks for looking.

Sure looks good! I like the full offset look!

josh9mille 10.20.2010 07:48 PM

Good lookin truck! That body fits pretty well. Im not sure which pieces are the carriers, but if they are the part that the the tierods bolt to then just swap them around if you break one.....assuming that the the part where the tierods bolt to broke off anyway.

brainanator 10.20.2010 08:53 PM

ah yes...that is the part that broke..... I can just swap them! haha....
Thanks for the tip josh9mille, didn't think about that.... :D

Yep, thats what i've done and I definently noticed that wide wheelbase makes them more prone to breaking, just another reason I went back to stock Savage size on FB2.

Looks great man, cant beat the badlands imo. great tire for the platform.

Looks great, the paint looks good too. And you can't go wrong with those Ofna wheels, I have a pair and really like them, they have a great offset and are really versatile.

Usually Integy is a no no, but someone (sorry can't remember) in the forums here found these. I have them and they have worked well for me on my converted Savage X and they allow you to ditch the tie rods in the back. I know they are temporarily out right now on Towers, but I am sure you can find some. If you try them make sure they are the heavy duty ones that look like this.

yeah, the integy carriers are high on my list. I found a chop shop selling the stock ones cheap though ($2 to my door each) so I'll get some of those. If they all break quickly I know what i'm getting :)
Thanks for the compliments guys. I like more simple paint schemes, and i tried to keep it cheap with only 2 colors.

josh9mille 10.21.2010 05:07 PM

yeah, simple cheap paint jobs are best for bodies that get ruined in a matter of hours lol.

thzero 10.21.2010 06:09 PM

Yeah, I went with those too... the 5T conversion really showed all the twitching going on in the rear.
