shim the diffs and it will be fine
its an older buggy but buggys didnt change much for 10 years, infact older buggys tend to hold up to power much better than the new generation of buggys because the older ones were designed like tanks, now its all about weight saveings and handeling |
thanks for the replay. What do you mean by shim the diffs?
|
shimming the diffs mean you add very thin washers to each side of the differential to remove any play in the gearbox.
most differental shims are universal in size, but i'm not 100% sure about them being the right size on the older models.. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXCWP5&P=FR http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...Mayhem-Pro-RTR |
Sweet. Which motor mount would fit my buggy? Would this one work? http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail.php?prod=rcmcdmm
Also would this battrys tray work? http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...MFPbatterytray |
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Hong Nor the name Ofna uses in outside the US, particularly in Asia? That buggy looks like an Ofna LX series either way and while you could adapt the universal mount to your buggy, this one should just bolt in.

here is a univeresal mount that i've seen alot of the vintage guys use when they've converted a long gone nitro... http://cgi.ebay.com/BUGGY-TRUGGY-NIT...item3f00726f12 it's not the prettiest design, but it will do the job. you can also make one out of stronger stock just by buying some aluminum angle on ebay. i made a dual motor buggy that way. here's what i like to use for mine: http://cgi.ebay.com/6061-T6-Aluminum...item2309056407 you can cut out the design using a scroll saw or a dremel and some files to clean up the edges. i've seen some elaborate versions of the ebay design that look pretty dam cool. hope that helps. |
