Castle Neu 1717 Bearings Size
 

Hi all, I would like to change the bearings of my 1717 so to use hybrid ones (steel + ceramic) as I've done for the 1520.

Does anybody knows the size of such bearings ? I have the 1717 with a 5mm shaft, but I noticed that the shaft reduction from 6 to 5 is just for the outer part of the shaft, while the inner remains of 6 mm.

Mmh...still some doubts.

The bearings in the kit are 5x16x5 but the shaft of my 1717 seems to be of 6mm at the bearing level (the reduction from 6 to 5 is just in the outer part of the shaft)

Unless there are different versions of the 1717, the Boca bearing set is WRONG! my ceramics don't fit, they are 1mm too small diameter. I've emailed Castle to verify the bearing sizes but they haven't gotten back to me yet. I took out the front bearing and it's 6x17, forgot to measure the width but googling has returned 6mm. Want to make double sure with Castle before I send them back though.

Anyone can confirm?

I got an email from Castle confirming that the inner diameter of the bearings is 6mm, so the right size should be:

- outer diameter: 16
- inner diameter: 6
- width: 5

Are You saying that the outer diameter on the bearings is instead 17 mm and the width is 6mm ? That surprising me, because when I sent the email to Castle I asked if the size was 16x6x5 and my question was specifically on the inner diameter (because of the shaft reduction fo the 1717 from 6 to 5). Castle replied me that the inner is 6 mm but says nothing about the other measures, so I assumed that they was as I've asked (16 outer and 5 width).

wish I grabbed the dimension of the width (thickness) of the bearing while I was at it, but I was just so frustrated at the time I didn't bother. :\

Hi Maneba, just yesterday spoken with Gareth of Boca Bearings and he said to me that from today on the 1717 kit should be updated with the right bearing size.
