Rcm spur broke?
 

My 46 spur broke today dunno y? Did u guys experienced it? Pinion is ok but spur broke during a race.

How about some details? What is your setup? Metal or plastic spur? What kind of vehicle? How long have you been running this setup?

First time I have heard of an RCM spur breaking, but maybe someone else will chime in with the same experience.

It's a metal spur, in a slip diff. Car x2 CRT, 4s n 2000kv (4274 motor) ran this setup for 2months for races only.

I race once a month only.10mins per main. Only 3mains.

this is broken spur

The slipper looks very tight...

happened to me too probably some small rock got into the drivetrain.

Maybe, but I have to run the slipper in my truggy close to that tight also otherwise I get excessive slip and the diff heats up too much.

And regardless, if there is any slip at all then it is still better than a regular diff (in terms of protecting the spur gear)

it will still slip, i did not want it to slip too much. I wonder why it broke.

Purpose
 

The purpose of the slipper is to have a component that will absorb shock from the drivetrain without destroying your diffs or other driveline components. It is meant to do this by having some level of slipage setup. If you do not have enough slipage than something else will absorb the impact. It seems to me that your spur gear was that component. Like I stated before just shoot MonsterMike a PM and see what kind of response you get from him. He backs his parts as long as you do not use them in an incorrect manner.

I emailed him but no reply, don't get me wrong I am not trying to get a replacement but to improve the quality.

So far rcm diff did not fail me.

It's a rock. In that instance, no matter how loose, it's the shock load that causes the failure.

I'd also check the motor shaft to make sure it didn't get bent...
