Looking for a new BL system

I have been pondering a long time and burned myself buying the HV. I couldn't wait to go BL. But, will be saving money as my ex wife took my tax money. But thinking of something like the 10xl w/9920 controller. I run 14 cells now and as i've said before, i'm KNOW i'll want more later. The controller you guys said that it would take more cells later. What's your opinion on this set up? I want to eventually get to the 40 mph range.:028:

the 10xl on 14 cells will get you well over the 40 mph range. i think around 45ish. thats what i run and soon 16 cells or 6s lipo, but it is a great powerful setup.

Thanks squee, is the 9920 a good controller? Or would you suggest something diff? How are your temps? In two weeks i should have the motor. What about tranny? Do you run a single speed? If so, would you have a link for a good one?
Again, many thanks!! When my HV is fixed, i'm putting it in my old lady's truck! LOL

the 9920 would work fine and with BL there is no need for first gear.

squeeforever 04.15.2006 08:31 AM

yup, exactly. there is no need for a first gear. i do not have a singlespeed though. i locked my tranny. until i could get one. yes, i run the 9920 and its great. the temps are about 130ish. i would recommend the mgm 16024 if you can afford it. there are quite pricey but i like them alot primarily because they can handle 8s lipo and are very adjustable.

The 9920 is fine! First gear is really usless, especially in a BL truck.... You will also thank your drivetrain with a single speed (2nd gear) tranny, the torque of bl is just too much for some applications.

For me first gear is good. If you run in some tight spots bashing around. First really come in handy. If you got the more open area and run higher speeds the single is better. The emaxx trans is good with steel idlers.

Thanks guys! I'm going with the 10xl/9920. And since i bash a little too, i may just keep first as coolhand suggested. Four shocks? Hmmm can I keep them? I hear weight makes a big diff on temps? How true is this? I have MIPS's all the way around, and it seemed to add a lot of weight, and I have stock tranny gears. What will i also need for gears and diffs? Do you have a link for the 16024 so i can check the price?

I run the steel idlers in my trans. I ran the 4 shocks as well for bashing. I don't race so it is all bashing.

Ok, i think i'll stick with the 9920...wow! Will the 9920/10xl work ok with a JR XS3 transmitter and novak receiver?

squeeforever 04.17.2006 02:37 PM

it should.

neweuser 04.17.2006 03:20 PM

I think i asked, but what am i gonna do about my diffs? Casings for the diffs? What is the way to go for gears and all the stuff i will need for diffs? Anyone? thanks guys. I'm thinking of getting my motor and controller, then get into the gears and all that but need the info so I know what i'm getting into. Think mike would give a deal on that set up?

neweuser 04.17.2006 03:25 PM

PS - Squee, love the new pic!

squeeforever 04.17.2006 03:26 PM

what i would do is get the brushless, then the diffs when they fail. it shouldnt be long though. as for diffs, i would go for the flm bulkless hybrids with the hb lightning pro diffs.

thanks! jay and silent bob RULE!!
