Finished my 2nd GTP

Went to LHS Randy's this morning and broke both my cars. Went home and build up my second GTP, for true onroad use. Team Magic Buggy has way too much torque and the little CRT.5 just wasn't cutting it today.

I actually use a faster servo in this build. Took out the plastic guards for a different look. Used a RC-Monster motor mount and had to shimmy that biotch. The RCM mount was lower than the front mount, so I had to lift it up a bit. An LX battery tray and servo holder was added. Pletty 3000kv and Tekin RX8. My cap bank add with dual TVS is a no brainer. The spool has the smaller spur option. I need to add a manly fan to the ESC and get me the rear body mount and hardend gears for the diffs. I allready have the King Headz diff case caps.

nice...she should scream

Your top speed will be limited by the reverse thrust of the motor cooling fan.

I can always slow the reverse trust down, with the slower 2300kv Pletty that I have, but the diffs might not fair so well.

The first RCM motor mount that I have fits perfect with the stock 51T spool. The second one that I got seems to be made for the 47T spool or 46T center diff. Hence I had to shimmy the mount up a bit. The first mount is just plain aluminum and the second one is anodized.

Added a monster fan, so I can gear up and run any motor I want. Reloaced the caps and added voltage wire to the RX for the telemetry. I can check out my battery voltage on the fly now.

The fan runs of the RX and blows plenty. Sounds like a screamin' kitchenmaid on 12V.

What are the specs of the Plett you are running and looking at the pinion, it is taking a beating hitting the spur gear. There are some mean notches on it.

snellemin 11.14.2010 06:08 PM

Don't know much, other than it's 3000kv and spools up quick. Drives different than with a tekin, castle or neu motor.

Big House 11.14.2010 06:24 PM

When you say different...is it better in speed or better in power delivery?

snellemin 11.14.2010 07:43 PM

It does the speed nicely and power delivery is smoother. It's like a C50L Hacker, with more torque. Once I get the hardend ring gears in, I will be able to just go bananas with it.

Upgraded the diffs with the Hardend ring gear and King Headz diff cup thingymagiggy. Swapped in some new dogbones and it runs alot smoother. Next week the King Headz hinge pin holders will be here. Only upgrade left after that is to a carbon fiber chassis by SNR.

Very nice. I built my own Carbon chassis myself. I like the look of those gears. Are they any quieter than the stock gears? My GTP is noisy as heck.

snellemin 11.20.2010 03:16 PM

Thanks man. It's a fast sucker and handles well. The gears are quieter than the stock ones, which don't last too long with me either. The harder gears hold up to some serious power.

Question...Does SNR may any other CF chassis for other models?

JERRY2KONE 11.20.2010 04:10 PM

Nice toy there.

Thats a nice looking toy there. I have been wanting to build an on road vehicle, and that looks like fun. Especially with the Pletty on there. I have a big Maximum, but I do not know what KV rating it is. That ESC does not look like an RX8. So that is a GTP, so what motor mount did you purchase for it?
