E-Maxx BL suggest diffs and bulkheads?

Just got a new BL e-maxx and am looking to upgrade the weak points. I'll be adding two 3S LiPo soon.

I'm looking to replace the diffs, bulkheads and the Transmission.

I was thinking the GA diffs and FLM bulks but maybe the FLM front and Rear Hybrid Bulks would be better? I would like to stick with one brand to keep things simple.

And i don't know where to start on the Transmission for the extra power i'll be getting with two 3S LiPo. I think the new BL emaxx only has one speed? as where the older one had two. I've been away for 4yrs so i have lost track.

FLM hybrid bulks would be the best way to go to reduce any diff case flex. As far as the trans, an RCM universal center diff mount would be the hot set-up.

Do you have a link to the RCM universal center diff?

What diffs would i use in the FLM hybrid bulks?

Thanks

The Trans will handle the 6s just fine. Got over 2 years on mine and gears are barely warped...

Go FLM Combo bulks and Hot Bodies hardend diff OR check this thread...

and go GA Bulks and LST2 Diff.

I'm confused you got 2yrs out of your stock trans? The BL version just came out?

BTW how do i get back to stock gearing after adding the hot bodies diff? It will change the gearing right? Is there some type of gearing calculator?

Wonder what other weak points will come out after i drop in two 3S....

This is the gearing calculator basically everyone here uses.
http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/_top_speed.html

The 3905 Emaxx has the same trans as the brushless edition, so its been out for quite awhile. There really aren't any weak points in the trans, except maybe the slipper.

I have a 3905 with the FLM hybrid bulks and Hyper 7 diffs, I think its a great solution, looks nice too.

Only other thing in the drivetrain I'd look to upgrading eventually is the stock driveshafts. Over time the plastic shafts will develop slop around the u joints. When its time to replace them, its better to go with cvds. The traxxas ones are nice and tough, but theres always MIP too.

ahhh that makes sense. Are there any guides how how to install the hot bodies diff or is it pretty easy to do? Would i use the exact same diff in the front and rear? I was goning to buy this one

http://www.rcplanet.com/Hot_Bodies_D...p/hbsc8178.htm

and i also need the Pinion to match?

If you don't want to go the hybrid way, here is what I did.

GA diffcases and bulks with the FLM diffcups/Traxxas ringgear combo from the 3906.

So far works great, and it is about to be punished by a 1520.

RC Fan 4 Life 11.12.2010 08:06 AM

The hybrids should be fine, i just don't understand though because FLM says to use

Hot Bodies diff part #s. Diff c8084-1 and Pinion c8030

Part # c8084-1 can not be found and you use the same diffs and pinion in both rear and front correct?

I would like to see a guide or something on the install before i bought them they look harder to install than on a diff that splits into and i have found some post where people have had trouble on the install.

Klausen: is the GA diff case and FLM51000 the only two things needed?

Thanks again for the help.

If you do a search on here I know you'll find the exact part numbers used for the hot bodies diff setup. And installation is not difficult, just as easy as a stock. The only extra step is shimming the diffs. And here's a guide to that for you.

If you go the GA route, you will need 2 of these.

http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...LM13010&cat=17

and 2 of these, besides the diffcases and bearings.

I am not sure the above link is the correct ones for the 3906 E-maxx, but it is the 3906 ones you need.

I have searched for it but didn't see any part numbers.

That's the route I went. And it is about to be punished by a 1518 that the mailman just delivered about 2 hrs. ago.

That would cost around $180? so not to bad.

I found a set of UE 8 Spyder for $175 from a guy at my local hobby shop they looked good and he said there is nothing wrong with them. Is that a good deal? What's the differance in the UE 6, 8 Spyders anyway? I went to there site and a lot of things seem to be out of stock.

RC Fan 4 Life 11.12.2010 10:55 PM

I haven't bought them yet are they worth it?
