Losi 810 conversion
 
Just starting a thread on this project. Should be a pretty quick build. Just got the 810 yesterday. Gonna tear it down and do the conversion this weekend. I already have all of the parts sitting on my bench.

Wheelbase is about 1/2" shorter than my xray 808 with the 2010 chassis on it. Looking forward to seeing how it drives on the tight indoor track.

Plan is to run a Tekin RSpro, Novak HV7.5 motor and 3s Hyperion 6500 pack and the RCM Ten-T conversion kit.

I'll be watching this closely. Currently my ten t is in Short Coarse form, but if this looks promising it will most likely go in this direction.

On another note I am really excited that Losi is expanding on this platform. It means more parts will become available...

whats the difference between the 810 and the 8ight 1.0/2.0?

The 810 is based off of the Losi Ten-T 1/10 truggy platform. It is a smaller, lighter, e-buggy.

Finished my conversion. Still need to change out the grease in the f/r diffs and the oils in the shocks, but its all together now. Here is what it looks like. I think this could be a nice little buggy. Its not quite as light as I was hoping for. Full rtr weight set up with a 3s 6500mah pack for a 15 minute main is around 6.75lbs. Still light for a 1/8 buggy but not the sub 6lb I was hoping for. With a battery good for 10 minute main could probably get it down closer to 6lb. The pack weighs 500+ grams. Gonna give it a run next weekend at the track and see if its worth spending any more money on before I start getting into trying to shave weight.

You should be able to get about 300+ grams off that weight pretty easy with a different lipo and a few other things. get you down to your target weight, but you might find the weight worth keeping.

I know that you want to shave more weight, but, under 7 lbs. for basically a 1/8 buggy is very good IMO. Nice clean set up you have. Hope it handles as well for you as it looks!

I dot think I am going to find 300 grams and still be able to make a 15 minute main. I do agree though. There is still a bit of room for some weight savings.

Gonna get a few track days on it before I start getting to worried about it though. Never been a big fan of Losi so I'm not sure how long it will last for me. But I couldn't resist when I saw an opportunity to play with a light buggy.

I am also thinking about tossing the HV4.5 from my short course truck into this and try it out on 2s and see what happens. I figure on a 2s 5000 setup it should be darn close to 6lbs and for sure no heavier than my Jammin SCRT that runs great on 2s. However... that setup is only good for 8 minutes or so. Would never make a nitro main and unfortunately around here most of the time we are still just running with the gas cars because the turn out for 1/8e is inconsistent at best.

yea a 15 minute main will require a large pack, but if you switched to a higher volatge setup such as 5o 6s on a 1409 you might be able to take a sub 7 pound car and squeek 15mins at race pace on a 340 (+/- 10) gram lipo, I run a 420 gram lipo in my 808 and joshs mp9 and both make 15mins and are both way over powered.

My ideas if you wanted to meet your target wegiht You can shorten you battery leads by flipping your lipo around with the wires to the rear. You can use lighter tires and wheel setup (buggy holeshots will bring the rtr weight down on the scale). you can do a little drilling and milling on the battery tray. you could loose the rx box and run the rx on the chassis right there. You could use the stock shock towers as templates and cut your own carbonfiber towers. you could go further with a carbon top plate.

It doesnt take long to get 150gr + the 150 from a differnt lipo might even save weight buy changing to a 1409.... just some thoughts...

another thing to ponder is do you have to run buggy tires? i have the ten -t 320 series tires on mine. wider and lower than buggy tires. wonder if their lighter?
cause you have the option to run 14 MM rims.

I was planning to take it to the track Sunday to race but a snow storm kept me home. Wasn't willing to brave the weather.

Planning to get it out on Saturday morning for a test and tune practice session. I'll let you know how it goes.
