CRT.5 w/VXL System

I recently acquired a CRT.5 with RCM extended chassis.

I swapped over all of the electronics from my VXL Bandit. With this setup in the crt.5 the truck has a ton of braking force. If I push on the brakes/ reverse to much the truck with do a front flip and land on it's lid or topple end over end.

So it has the VXL ESC, stock motor, traxxas tx/rx and a hi-tech steering servo.

What can I adjust so this doesn't happen?

Right now I'm running this on a 7-cell 4500 Duratrax pack and it has plenty of power. I can't wait to get my 2s and 3c packs ready.

Thanks,
Nick

If it has too much braking force, it could be the ESC is actually going in reverse when the truck is going forward. Many ESCs are MUCH more touchy on reverse braking than forwards. Swap two of the motor wires, reverse the throttle channel on your radio, then try recalibrating the radio and ESC. See if that helps. I'm not sure if it will work as I've never used/worked with the VXL ESC.

Thanks for the help I will try that.

Here is a pic of my CRT.5 with all of the VXL equiptment installed. I just wire tied everything in because this is just a temporary setup.

A few people on here might recognize this truck, it seems like it has been passed around to a few different members on here.

I just got some 2s and 3s Turnigy packs. Hopefully they work well.

Right now I'm running the stock pinion with a 12t spur, should I change the spur when running 2/3s?

Thanks for the help,

can you just look at the Outer Diameter: 4.875" (123.8mm), is it the same on yours ?
I ask you that because I wonder to buy one for my Mini Ste (same size as CRT.5) but I am afraid the outer diameter is to big for 1/12 scale.

Thanks

And about your issue on reverse : did you try to calibrate you radio with the VXL to be sure Reverse is setup properly ?
Look at the manuals :

Thanks for the link, I still need to recalibrate the ESC. I will give it a try and see how it works.

I will measure the wheels/ tires tonight when I get home and let you know.

The tires are just over 4.5" tall.

Ok so that's the link I put just before :
Outer Diameter: 4.875" (123.8mm)

So it is clearly usable on a 1/12 scale

Thanks
