Mugen MBX6 plastic spur gear - any chanches??
 

Hi guys, do you know if is there any plastic central spur gear from any other buggy to use with by MBX6 just convertd in brushless???

The top choice would be to get one of RCM's slipperentials and use the plastic spur option. The slipper function will smooth out the power, as well as help protect the plastic spur from stripping.

There used to be a smaller plastic spur gear but can't remember the maker.
I have one here that is used in the Sliperdiff Mike made.
I wish was more help but been so long ago.

Yeah, about the slipperential I promised to Mike to have one of it in Genuary, so, for now no chanches to use any other spurs?? Some guys were telling me to use a complete RC8e central diff, but I don't know if it will be a direct fit or not...

the asso rc8b3/rc8e /rc8t/rc8/sc8..thunder tiger st-1 center diff is a direct fit without any modifikations to the mugen diff

i drive it by my self. the plastic spur gear of asso is soooo durable, you dont need here spare..

the driving is wonderfull, it seems, the car is lighter when you see it driving without that ugly metal spur noise

Come to think about it.
I think he used a Muegen diff set up in it.
The sliper diff set up I was talking about used a traxxas revo spur and sliper. Went to a pinion gear to a muegen diff to drive a Gmaxx v2 chassis around.

If you ajust the mesh correctly, the noise is the same between plastic and metal. How many gramms do you gain with a plastic spur ?

You can try to mesh every Time but the Noise will Never Be the Same.

I have noticed that the mesh should be "not too free" to be more quiet as toom much free play will increase it, so, giving some free distance between pinion and spur should be considered setting it on "the tight-right mesh side"

What pinion do you use ? I use novak pinions with my mbx6 spur. The right mesh is very tight indeed, and it's totally quiet. The mbx6 spur is different than the mbx5. I had some noise issue with mbx5 spur, but with the mbx6 one I am very happy.

I have Nokak pinions + Speed Passions + Hobbywings + Rw + Hot Bodies Ve8, they are mixed from 14T to 19T. I'd like to test them on the next week...
