Male Female Bullet Wiring

I'm working on my BL Baja and have a 1/5 Mamba XL ESC. I'm going to use Neu 8mm bullets for the battery connections. My question is: should I put males on the ESC, females on the battery? Or one of each on? If I put one of each on the ESC, should male be plus or minus? Is there a standard or does it even matter?

Thanks!

One on each enables you to easily daisy chain 2 packs into series or run a single big pack...

Thanks, Arct1k! I put a male on the plus and a female on the minus. This prompted the wife to complain that the male should be the minus. Females are always plus!

Well, tell her you have to do the opposite on the batteries anyways (or esc - whichever you haven't done) - so she should be happy.

Another advantage to doing one of each (male/female) is that it makes it impossible to hook up your battery the wrong way.

yea nothing like having batteries that someone can short out easily.

batteries should have female connectors on both + and -

Why would anyone want to do that?

Because the plugs fit together. Id rather have two females.... well because multiple females together is always better

In all seriousness, a male and a female seem more dangerous, just because the male plug is always exposed.. Two females can be covered in heatshrink.

True - I was concerned initially but is v nice for connecting batteries in series...

I make my battery wires different lengths so that the connectors have no chance of accidentally bumping together. With my red wire (with female connector) longer than the black wire (with male connector) someone would really have to try to short them out. Since I'm the only one who handles my batteries, I don't see any problems.

Thanks for the advice! I installed the 8mm bullets on my Mamba XL and Lipos. A male and female on each. Does connecting and pulling apart get easier after a few times? These things are tight!
