6 pole motors - ESC compatibility

Can I run 6 pole motors on any ESC? What compatibility issues do I have here?

I have the MGM 25064 X-Series so wondering if one would work with that, though I'm pretty sure I only have option for 4 pole.

Thanks,
Nick.

May be rpm limited...

How do you mean? What is the relation between poles and RPM?

Can I not just hook 2 wires from the motor per output of the ESC?

The X-Series MGMs have a 250,000 rpm limit with 2-pole motors. That means with a 6-pole motor you are limited to just over 80,000 rpm. Other than the rpm limit the number of poles doesn't matter.

updating this thread for anyone interested, my Mamba Max Pro has been used successfully with a 1500Kv 6 pole outrunner on 6s. (:

My CC stuff has always run the 6 poles well but when I had MGM a couple of years back it would hiccup some with startup and braking. Not horrible and not every time but still happened and was noticeable. Hopefully they have upgraded their firmware since then to fix this.
