Bought some lipo's that don't fit
Hey guys,
I've just received some lipo's that I bought for my mini e-revo, specifically these ones: Turnigy 1600mAh 3S 20C Lipo Pack http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=9167 I was assured by a couple of people that they would fit, but they are too long and I don't wanna cut up the chassis, so I need to buy some different ones. I've seen the maxamps one's, they are garanteed to fit and the specs look great, but they have a bad reputation and are madly overpriced. Another set of Turnigy's that actually fit would be great, if anyone knows of any? Thanks for any help! |
Battery tray dimensions?

Measuring mine, 16mm x 90mm x 30mm would be about it for thick lipos. If you go down to 14mm you can go full length of the tray, which is 104mm.
So either 16x90x30 or 14x104x30 Anything more is going to be tight. I can see what those lipos you linked would not fit. |
I used the Rhinos in my MERV for 3S. I think they were 3S 1550mAh 30C packs.(25C and 20C ones should fit even easier) They were tight going in and out but it was possible (little bit more effort than normal) to close the doors. For 4S running I used Turnigy 2S 1600mAh 30C. You can get bigger packs in there but it takes a lot of effort to push them in and pull them out of the compartments. Not to mention the extra weight of the bigger packs kills the handling a lot in these little fellas.

I have the Flightmax 3s 1600 20C lipos, and they fit great. I just had to notch the battery doors for the wires to exit properly. I didn't have to modify the chassis at all. According to the specs, my packs are only 1mm shorter than yours.
Take the battery door off and see if you can fit the pack in. If so, then a quick notch on the door will take care of the rest. |
The packs I have at the moment stick out the back of the battery tray by at least 1cm

I now have the flightmax 3s 1800's, 20c. The fit, but you really have to cram them in there. I had the rhino 1550's mentioned above before, the def fit better, and in my opinion were a better battery than these flightmaxxes.
