Castle link not reading a NEW old MM
Just pulled a MM out of the box to update and use only to find out the castle link does'nt work. I got this from castle as a replacement for one that fried a while back. I set it up with the castle link when I got it and boxxed it as a spare. Now it does'nt link up. The cc-bec linked up but not the controller. Just a little mad that I will have to shell out more $$ for something that has never been used. Funny my pc dings when I plug it in as it sees something being plugged in but the castle link sees nothing. Sorry for the rant but I'm really P.O.ed:diablo:

Recall something about having to use the USB cable to update the firmware, then using the castle link... Do a few searches on the subject, the answer is here on the forum somewhere :-)

What version of operating system are you running ?
There is no usb driver for some later operating systems Do you have a castle link adapter as well as the straight usb cable ? Try connecting via the link (servo lead) instead of the cable Cheers |
Crusey, he IS using the CC link (plugged it into a CC BEC). I think it has to have a minimum firmware version already in the MM (via the USB cable) before it will communicate with the CC link.

neither of my MMs will link. One the green led lights, the other a green and amber led flash fast. My MMMs updated fine, as the CC-BEC did.
The USB port does nothing, but the link on the wire to the Rx will turn the leds on and give the USB conn. a green light but the controller conn is still red. I went to castle and installed the castle link on this pc today. Newest version I think.Found this but does'nt help me much. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...7&highlight=mm Tried the driver install, but it said it was unable to do so.http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...erinstall.html |

Tried the adaptor with the Rx wire. One MM flashed green and amber leds, the other has a green led. USB conn box lights green, controller conn. box is red.I will try it on an old pc.

Are you running a 64 bit OS? With some of the firmwares it will not work with 64bit. I had to go back to a 32 bit install and update it to work on a 64 bit OS. Also the USB cable does not work with 64bit so you need to use RX connector.

Update the firmware with a XP machine (32 bit) through the MM usb port. Then you should be able to use castlelink through the receiver plug on newer OS.

THANKS GUYS!!!! I dug out the old vista machine and updated the MMs with the USB port, than hooked them up to the new machine and it worked like a charm. A bit of a P.I.T A. but I have my MMs updated and one will get a new 1410 as a mate. Thank You Thomas for some Sunday CS. I guess thats what puts you guys on top in most peopls books for power systems. Problem solved. One of these is an original MM,7700 combo in my old T3. Been through some good times together, and beat it well. Not ready to part ways yet.
