Fully charged lipos tripping the LVC
I have some NeuEnergy 4900mah 25c packs that have very little runtime on them, but have been around for a while, and balanced every couple of months. I went to run them after charging and balancing and they are tripping the lvc on my esc. Tried a spc pack the same age with no problems. Are these things no good or do they need to be cycled?

Cycle them on the charger, note the mah they put out, and the mah they take back in.
Lipo's do age... May be time to turn them into receiver batts :-) |
Check your voltage with a multimeter, and also check your connections. It sounds like a connection issue to me.

Pretty sure I know them packs, they are a couple years old now. I would expect a little loss but not so much that a fully charged pack is tripping the lvc. I know my old NeuEnergy 4900 packs lost about 500mah capacity after about a year, still had good power though, sold them awhile ago now. I just cycled my 4s 5500 Neu pack and it took 100% of the capacity to charge it

were the packs cold?

Packes were about 55 to 60f.My spc packs doe'nt trip it so its not a connection issue. Erevo, you do know the packs. I got a Slash 4x4 and I think the cold, and the fact that the packs need to be woke up I guess may have caused enough of a voltage drop. The vxl esc stays flashing untill shut off. The packs balance right to 4.2v each. They were always doggy untill warm. If I recall they have the best punch when they hit about 90 to100f. I think my MMs are more forgiving with the lvc. Going to cycle the packs. If the weather ever breaks here we need to do some bashing Erevo.

I just took my Truggy out yesterday for a run with my NeuEnergy XP 4s 5500mah, It had no punch at all in the cold, pack started run at about 75* and cooled down during the run, I cycled it and it still took 5508mah back in. These packs do perform best when warm, there's no doubt about that! As soon as we get a little thaw we'll have to get together for a bash session, snow banks make awesome jumps! My Savage is down at the moment waiting for the HD tranny gear to come but that will be running within a week.

Yes, lipos do not like the cold. Stick them in your pockets of place them under your sac (HAHAHA) to get them to warm up. The 30c enerland cells were the worst, I had a 4500mah 30c pack that would barely move the truck till it got warm, but then it was a best. In fact it worked best at around 130f... Kinda hot. I have noticed the zippy packs do not need to be as warm to run well.

Hot nuts and warm lipos.... Just need beer and chicks to make it a party. That would be a bad place for a lipo fire though.
