Is this guy asking for trouble.

On R/c Tech forum theirs a person asking if he should go with the Mamba monster 2650 KV system with 6s or the Tekin T8 2650 kv system on 6 in a 1/8 buggy. He want "my goal , top speed runs , very fast 0-160km/h " and I really don`t wanna see a either beautiful BL system melted into plastic goo.
So I was hoping the more knowable people here could maybe help.

link to to persons question/post

P.s this guy sound like clueless noob

Personally, anyone that is going to run a high-ish kv motor on high voltage and geared high HAS to know that it will be running "on the edge" and shouldn't be surprised to get some burnt components. That setup is obviously not going to be reliable, but most reasonable people would know this and have spares on hand.

...I want to spend a max $2000 on a daily driver that can get 45mpg and do 200mph easily.

Back to the old saying: Cheap, reliable, fast. Pick any two...

Went over and put in .02c, I'll shoot him a PM too but it's realy up to him to decide who and what he wants to listen too. Hope he doesn't get suckered into a super expensive tekin/max crap rig that doesn't hold up for him...

What's_nitro? 01.30.2011 11:18 PM

It can work. Will it work for him? Who knows...

Under load the motor will not exceed it's rpm threshold. Someone tell him to watch the tire spin with fresh batteries or he might kerplode the rotor...

He responded to my PM :-) I've directed him over here and posted up on his thread some.

Welcome to the dark side LOL

Oh geez guys, Sometimes it is more fun to let a noob do what he wants. Let him learn on his own (it is more fun for the spectators that way) Hopefully he will take video of it as it breaks!

I've done 6s on the 2650KV but would consider it out of spec and a non warranty repair if it broke. I still didn't win the long jump competition though this year :(

I did jump the furthest but only after adjusting the ramp angle for a buggy which was deemed a cheat :)

Thats my GTP-2 setup, because of a stupid huge spur and a need for speed.

DrKnow65 01.31.2011 12:58 PM

Arctik, I need a better understanding of what you consider "out of spec" that would make a 2650 spinning 58k a non warantee repair? Only because it's printed right on the back of the can that max rpm is 60k.

That and the fact that guys I've spoken to at castle have said it's fine to run the 2650 on 6s...

bigbadtaz 01.31.2011 03:35 PM

me and my buddies do the same thing with our buggy and we drag with speeds of 75 - 89 89 was the highest we gotten so far we use mm 2650 and a few 2200 hobby wing with no issues at all......so i say have fun and do you man...btw we GRP rally tires these are great no ballooning at all

I know Patrick has said they have and do run them on high rooms but it's also been said in the past that Max war was 4s
