LIPO scamers on E-bay
 

I under stand making some money off E-bay but all these people on ebay marking up Turnigy and Flightmaxx lipo's $75-150.00 made me sick today.

I don't mind them making some but this is just sad...all the people getting railed by these sellers and some have american flags saying "support the USA" selling china cells.

I just might buying some lipos and making my own listing just to warn people about this scam

I love this hobby and am having a hard time sitting back while this happens

All cells are Chinese or Korean so there are no true USA cells. Assembled in the US but that's it.

Really though, these people don't bother me any more than maxamps.

I have sold a few sets of Turnigy lipos on ebay. Usually when i make an order with HK ill order a set of the 20c 2s 5000mah lipos just to sell on ebay. i think I had my last set on there for 75 BIN and they were sold in under an hour, I figure they are still getting a heck of a deal compared to what else is out there. However I am not the guy with the American flag in his listings, that guy is a serious D-bag.

hmmmm. I resold a turnigy as an auction and just barely broke even...

Someone should get a bunch of Turnigys, re-shrinkwrap them (make them waterproof at the same time), and then put a certain flame sticker on them. :whistle:

Wouldn't that work TOWARDS that particular brands popularity. I mean imagine how popular they would be if there packs ACTUALLY perfomed:surprised:

Those kind of people are talked about extensively in the Bible. Not trying to preach, just showing that it is not acceptable behavior by any means. In fact more time is spent condemning "religious" people than all other groups combined. In fact Matthew 23 is pretty hardcore against the religious type.

The way I see it if the people buy the marked up Turnigy packs on Ebay without taking 10 seconds to Google "Turnigy" and check prices then that is their own fault. It's the job of the consumer to do their research. When I see a product I want the very first thing I do is go around and see what the prices are at different places. The American flags may be a bit questionable, but they are primarily to show the product is located and shipping from the USA, because 90% (I just made that up) of the lipos on Ebay are from China-based sellers.

It's one of the main aspects of capitalism, people find a source for something they can get cheap, and sell it to make a profit. If you are going to be upset about marked up Turnigy packs you better start making a list, because there's about a million other things that fall into the same category.

Good points, and it's also not like lipo's are a need type product either.

I consider my hobbies a luxury and treat them as that.

I research everything I buy including prices.

Yes, want vs. need is also a good point. Going to Africa and charging $20 for a bottle of clean water is ethically wrong IMO, because it's something a person needs to survive and be healthy, part of the basic human rights we all share. Or price gouging during/after a hurricane. It's taking advantage of people's misfortune and desperation.

You don't need a lipo to survive and be happy (some here might argue otherwise :wink:), so I don't see any ethical obligation to limit the price. Look at diamonds, one of the biggest shams of all time; make the supply artificially scarce, a few monopolies controlling the market, but you can't really get too upset over it because no one really needs diamonds (some wives/girlfriends might argue otherwise). If you are willing to pay exorbitant prices for a luxury item, so be it.

Damn, I'm getting way too philosophical about some overpriced Turnigy packs on Ebay...

Here is another way to put it: Things are worth as much as someone is willing to pay for them.

Noob or not, if you don't do the homework befor you buy it's your own dam fault you spent way to much.
