HPI Releases Small Savages!

Looks like HPI is getting into the mini MT segment with 2 new smaller Savages. The Small Scale Savage appears to have a Castle ESC, looks like the sidewinder? Sorry for a lack of more info, I found this on another forum.

"Small scale" Savage: This looks like a prototype model, doesn't have diffs or driveshafts in it.

Oooh that small Savage (1/12 or 1/14 scale maybe?) looks kinda cool. Might be a good truck for my girlfriend.

That Nano is interesting, just not my cup of tea.

Good find!

we'll see if they make it over the pond though...

Didn't they pull that with the Vorza? Kept the sales in Europe only, then finally brought it here? Or am I thinking of something else? That would suck if they did that with these though.

About time someone makes a car that will put Traxxas mini's back in their place.......

looks alot like the old minizilla, they sold that one under the hotbodies name plate

Neither of them look like a savage, especially that first one. And the second one only because of the tires, wheels, and bumper. And plastic TVPs? come on now! It couldnt be that hard to scale everything down to make a smaller size replica. If Traxxas can do it with the revo, then HPI should be able to do it with the Savage. I mean i cant remember how many times I have mistaken a mini e-revo for a full size one in pictures, with the only giveaway being the plastic pushrods. And the more i look at that savage "nano" the more and more i see it is just a HB minizilla. At least with the second truck it kinda looks like a flux....sort of. sorry for ranting.

Even if those are plastic TVPs they still look pretty beefy. A lot sturdier than the mini revo chassis I'm sure. I had a merv and sold it cause I couldn't stand working on it, the diffs are weaker than those on the full size. My friend bought it and within a week he snapped the thing in two, and in the two months he's had it he's replaced at least two more diffs.

Krawlin: They kept the bullet in Europe, I'm not familiar with the history of the Vorza though.

Just remember that the "Small Scale Savage" pictured is just a prototype model, it may end up coming with an aluminum chassis, not enough info about it out yet though. I'd have to agree with E-Revonut though, I'm sure those plastic TVP's would be plenty beefy enough for that.

do we realy need another overcomplicated "min"???

Yeah, and judging by the bumps on the plastic my best guess would be that the parts were produced with a 3d printer, so the materials on the prototype might not even be close to what you see on the real thing. Even if the TVPs are plastic, it wouldn't turn me away. It will probably still be plenty stiff since it has a gearbox, receiver box, and probably an esc tray to brace it.

Like the HPI Bullet? Wish they'd bring it over here...

I'm sure if/when these are released in the US there will be a slew of aftermarket companies making alloy and carbon fiber TVPs anyway. But yeah, I would think the plastic would be fine in the smaller scales.

Small scale Savage looks somewhat like a Savage, with the motor mounted on the side for some reason, and that tray being the exception. (Battery tray or something similar? Looks like it's holding the motor though.)

Also, the TVP seems sort of weird, going down instead of straight @ the front, making the radio tray sit a bit back from the shock tower.

I really like it though. I like that it's not an exact replica of the bigger Savage, like the Revo and Mini Revo. Seems to have a different tranny, motor mounting positions, etc.

New design means they've actually thought about the overall car, instead of just scaling everything down.

I realy like the small scale savage, more details here. Use a translator of your choosing. If the price isn't going to be completely bonkers, I think I'll definately get one. Nice size, not as huge as a 1/8th MT but not as fiddly as 1/18th or 1/16th either.

As for the Savage Nano: They already presented it in Nürnberg, in 2010...
Wondring if it'll ever come out.
