Kyosho Blizzard, brushless power

Hi

New here, from Norway..
Been reading this forum for a while, and found alot of great info, so i thought i would join you

As a side project from my e-revo, i got a Blizzard to play with in the snow..

I mounted a 4300kv + esc from HK, went all in for 3s 4000mah lipo, 27t pinion (17t stock), put inn ball bearings instead of bushings (26pcs i think it was), and 120k wt in the diff for better traction!

I wonder what the scale speed would be

A short movie of it:

BLIZZARD SPEED RUNS!

That's cool man. I hope it holds together for you. I had mine fitted with a LMT BasicXL 2800 on 4s lipo.....it was fast. :mdr:

Welcome to RC-Monster! :yipi:

that thing hauls azz! So what kind of radio do you use for that? I would immagine it would be a stick radio for airplanes so you can control each track independently?

It's actually a single motor with a differential with left and right brakes off one servo that steer a blizzard. Turn left and the left track locks. Turn right and the right track locks. Any radio would work.

Actually Kyosho Blizzards use a differential between the tracks with a brake disc on each side. To steer, it uses a single servo that applies the brake on 1 side or the other. You can use a pistol type radio for this, but if one were so inclined, I guess you could use a stick radio for airplane, but really it would be doing the same thing, unless you set it up for dual motors, 1 driving each track.

EDIT: Whoops, Harold posted the same thing while I was typing this up.

Yup, i use a futaba 3pm pistol :)

Its a real handfull to drive though  You need to be _very_ careful when steering..
The brakes is steel on steel, and even if it got way better after the 120k diff oil, and some modding on the brake linkage, it`s still kinda digital

I`m going to mod the brake pads too later, to get less grip on the brake disk..

And i need a tougher body, with alot less details.. I almost made a backflip last time i was out, so the body gets a beating LOL
