Mamba Monster Thermal Cutoff?

At what temp does the Mamba Monster Thermal cutoff engage?

And what happens when it does. I think i might have experienced it today, after running about 3/4 of a pack at the track the car would kind loose throttle power (steering still worked) for a couple second, then it would start running again. If i took it to my workbench and let it cool down, it ran great for another 3/4ths of a pack, and then it would do the samething... (i checked the voltage of the packs 3.7v each cell, so it wasnt cut off

It might be the LVC. Voltage drops under load and it might be tripping the LVC but will still read higher at rest.

hmm ive never experienced that with any of these packs in my other cars...

I agree at rest if the cells are only at 3.7 a piece they would definately drop to a cutoff level depending on your settings and motor/setup. When it thermals or hits lvc it will flash a specific combination of led's on the esc. Check the sticky in this forum it has a list of what everything means. Have never thermaled mine but have hit lvc and it does exactly what your describing. I think the thermal protection comes on at around 170 but that's just what came out of my head could be wrong.

i didnt time the packs, but im sure ive run much longer that what i had done before it cut off or turned off.

What is making me think its not the lvc is that after letting the car sit for a bit, i ran the same pack for another 7-8mins probably (estimate) and then the issue re occurred making me thing it was not the LVC

If it was the LVC you wouldn't be able to get another 7-8 minutes of run time before it tripped again, not unless you were cruising around at 1/4 throttle. Most likely it would trip again the first time you hit anything above 1/2 throttle.

which is why i dont think it was the LVC cut off, because after waiting i was able to run the track driving like i normally do (which is far from 1/4 throttle ha)

My experience with the Castle ESC's is that the LVC doesn't really kick in when the pack is under load and momentarily drops. I have had Lipos drop to 2.9/3.0V a cell under load (eagletree data) when the LVC hasn't kicked in, and I always set it at 3.5V

If you are thermalling the Mamba Monster.....There is definitely something wrong with your setup!!! The fan should be coming on and keeping it cool for starters. I have been running a MMM on my truggy for two years and the fan only comes on at startup, never been hot enough to kick on during a run let alone thermal the esc
