Is it possible? brushed buggy:)

HI,
I had hard times this winter with my brushless cars. Burned up three esc's (one waterproof MGM,one sealed MMM and one MMP ) because of water. I want to try to build a brushed buggy. I'll use traxxas evx2 esc because I don't know any other HV waterproof esc but couldn't find any suitable brushed motor. There are huge brushed motors but their can diameter is huge too and impossible to mount. I want 30mph top speed. Is that possible?

I doubt you will find a brushed motor that will do the job.

4 years ago I made my very first attempt at a 1/8th scale electric conversion. I got a Revolver 970 motor from Kershaw designs. I figured if it could move an E-Maxx it could move a 1/8th buggy. I asked Dan for gearing recommendations and used his advice. I used a Novak Super-Duty XR ESC and a pair of 6-cell NiMH batteries. I took it to the track for its first run when no one else was there. I ran a timed 10 minutes and counted laps.

I could tell right away it wasn't real fast. I think I ended up 3-4 laps slower than the nitros were running at the time.

But the motor got hot. It got so hot it smelled. In fact it got so hot, it still smelled months later. Did I mention it got hot?

I made exactly one run on that conversion, with that motor, then bought a Novak HV-Maxx system (remember, this was 4 years ago - no Monster).

Try to fit a Outerwear cover from http://outerwearsracing.com/categories.asp?cat=11441

Dont know what would fit youre car best, but they have full covers for E-revo`s, Slash, Blitz and more.. My guess is that you will make one of these fit well, if you choose for a car that has approx the same shape on chassie.. If not, they sell big sheets too, for you to make youreself ;)

I run one on my E-revo now, and i dont get any snow or water in my chassie anymore.
Not saying its impossible that some snow gets there, but atleast it hasnt happened to me yet. And the best part, its VERY breathable..

it is do-able

if geared right a pair of titans and an evx will move a buggy and be reliable, but it wont be very quick

I would say a pair of the the revolver 700ho motors, and the evx2 might be able to give decent results on 4s lipo. Gearing would be touchy, and you would need a special motor mount for 2 brushed motors.

Or maybe the dewalt 820 motors, those are tough motors, made alot bette than most.
