Dual Titan 775 E-Maxx Project
I know that brushed motors aren't very common around these forums, nor are they very common around my stable of RC cars. I did however elect to stick to brushed motors for this project in order to make a waterproof powerhouse.
I used a pair of EVX-2 ESCs to power two Titan 775s. The result is a Torque monster with a higher top speed too. You can see the full project details here: http://goo.gl/niY03 Pictures http://btallack.com/Pictures/RC/_MG_0083-Edit.jpg http://btallack.com/Pictures/RC/_MG_0100-Edit.jpg http://btallack.com/Pictures/RC/_MG_0099-Edit.jpg -Brennan |
Looks like you're having fun with it...
I would recommend the use of WD-40 in the motors after each run to keep water from sitting on the bare iron components. Of course check all of the other metal chassis parts for rust once in a while, too. |
Looks nice.
Isn't it possible to use only one of the esc's? |
Each Motor uses four power wires (2 positive, 2 negative) as they require a fair bit more power than a single 550. I could have just used one ESC by combining the wires but I likely would have fried the ESC in a real hurry. I'd also likely lose power at full speed on a single ESC.
Basically Traxxas designed the 775 to replace two 550s. |
I see, then I learned something today.
|
Basically, I likely could have done it, I just didn't want to risk it when I already had a spare EVX-2. No sense frying an expensive ESC if I don't have to.
|
I was going to ask why you used two EVX-2's until I read that you had them laying around. (Based on the ratings of the EVX-2 and Mamba Monster, you could drive both 775's with just one Monster.)
Looking good! |
