A solid racing buggy?

Hey,
Having started in the 1/8th buggies with a ofna ultra lx1e, I'm looking for something more towards the racer, yet something I could still have some fun with in the front yard/local park..but mainly racing..
And I'm stuck betweem the Associated RC8BE Factory Edition, Ofna Hyper 9E, and the Mugen mbx6 Eco. At the moment, I'm leaning towards the RC8BE, as I've seen a few at the track and they look super planted...any thoughts?

I would keep the LX1e and just buy something else for racing.

Yeah..I'm still keeping the lx1e, just want another buggy :P

My vote goes to the MBX6. Just buy the factory brushless version now so you won't have to buy the conversion kit.

Brushless version? Is it RTRish? If so, I'd rather go with the kit...Kinda have most of the electronics :P

You will still need the following for the MBX6E:

1/8 Scale Electronic Speed Control
1/8 Scale Electric Motor
LiPo Battery & Charger
Radio Gear & High Torque Steering Servo
Tires & Wheels
Polycarbonate Paint for Body

Oh..so what's exactly the difference between the MBX eco (the new kit), and the brushless version?

If you want a unique car, get a lightly used MBX6 roller(or a brand new one if your can afford it), and the new tekno V4 conversion or the RCM conversion. If you want mech brakes take the tekno, if not the RCM. Both are great!

They're one and the same.

rc8be or a used xray 808 that you can do the drivetrain mod and conversion on.

arvint 02.18.2011 02:03 PM

Hmmm..tough choices...split between the rc8be and the mbx6eco now o.o Decisions Decisions..

arvint 02.22.2011 02:01 AM

just want to know..durability wise..they both would be similar? As well as track performance?

DwightSchrute 03.02.2011 08:28 AM

if it were me, i'd get the rc8. parts can be had almost anywhere. I raced one for the last part of the season, and it was a really good buggy.

my personal favorite is still the 8ight though. it seems to handle the best for my driving style.

If was going to choose betwen the MBX6e and RC8Be, I would take the MBX6e every time:yes:

Choose what is most raced at your track / the LHS carry.

A lot of people race Mugen over here (The Netherlands), myself included (I drive MBX6 + RCM conversion). I would choose the MBX6e ... is sooooo sweet!

p.s. I owned a RC8T and that thing was a tank!
