Im currently building another maxx and am looking at a new motor

Im looking at the Lehner 1940 or 1950 ... I was thinking around the 8 turn

Im look For high top speed and a good runtime. and may well go lipo, Whats the opinion of the flightpower lipos ? and whats should i be looking for spec wise?

The maxx Should'nt be to heavy, Gorillamaxx carbon chassis with extension, RacerX (with 4 shocks) and hybrid bulks

So what motor is recommend and what turn, also is it worth going for the high amp version of the motor?

the 1940 will pull that sled rather fast. If you want long runtimes, i think a 1940 is a wise choice. (perhaps even a 1930)

Yes, the flightpower lipoly's are very good, but Appogee also has got this new type of cell (limh) Leroy orderd a 6S of them to do some testing with. (on a 1950)

Highamp/non highamp; the non highamps use 3.5mm plugs, and the highamp has got a few wires sticking out. Lehner advises the highamp in 100A + applications. No need for an highamp in your case. Normally, above a certain kv value, the lehners come as a high amp version, but i know Dafni has got 2 1950's (and he loves them) which are a non high-amp wind but in a high-amp version, if you know what i mean..

If you want serious torque a 1950 would be a blast, but it you keep it lightweight with lipoly, you might as well consider a 1930, Mike uses a 1930 on his racer trucks and he is using 4S lipo on them. Can you say light weight setup..

Looking at your specifications, I can say you will get one nice truck! (i've got the parts your mentioning too)

What skids are you going to use? the gmaxx?

If you want a top speed with good run time, the 1940/8 is a very good choice. Wait a bit longer and you can get your lipo packs from rc-monster.com. Mike is starting to sell different lipo setups from 2s to 5s lipo packs. With the 1940/8 or even a 1950/8( for a longer run times) and a 5s lipo pack coupled with a MGM 16016 or 16024 will make your truck ROCK with ease.

Skid wise, Yea i was going to go with the gorillamaxx.

1940/8 whats sort of voltage so i be looking at?

and also gearing, UE 6 spyder Diff's / Strobe Slipper

Im waiting for some supermaxx parts at moment, diffs to finnish my other maxx, the RacerX, shock towers and some other bits

For the 1940/8 you might want to use around 18-20v+( 16-18 sub-c cells or 5s lipos).
I dont know about the gearing ( if you are using a strobe setup, maybe a 18 teeth pinion with the 51 spur would be nice), but I guess Serum and the others can help you regarding this.

So a pair of flightpower evo 3700mAh 3S1P could be a good choice ?

The 1940 will be up to the job no sweat i reckon,like Serum says maybe even a 1930 for a lightweight racing setup.

I've been using a 1950/10 hi-amp in a 14lb LST on 8s lipo and it has plenty of torque.

I'm building a lighter version right now (9.5-10lbs)and i'll be using a 1940 on either 5 or 6s evo20s.I've been using evo20 3300s(because they fit in my 1/10 stuff too) and they've been great so far,i'm getting some 3700s aswell.

The hi-amp version is good if you want to solder on 5.5mm connectors rather than the 3.5mm on the standard versions,they're a much tighter connector although they add some weight.Either will be fine though.

I'd recommend the 1940/9 on 6s lipo,or 1940/8 on 5s,that's about spot on for rpm in my opinion.

What kind of runtime are you getting on that 1950 10t gustav? I was thinking of changing over to a setup like this. My truck would be a little lighter but not much.
If you go with 6s and 1940 may look at one with a higher turns. Get longer run time out it as well.

I'm not sure on the runtime but it seems like ages to me.I'll time it but just bashing around it's hard to compare runtimes.

I ran it on 20 gp2200s a few times before i got the MGM and it must have been about 15 minutes.Didn't seem very powerful though,the 8s woke it right up,the difference is rediculous,feels like twice the power.I like it at that voltage,it runs very strong but cool and the runtime seems good.I'd say i'm getting 15 minutes at a guess from 2.5 Ah.

So for 6s i could be better of going for the 1940/9? or should i go even higher ?

Just got my supermaxx Shock towers today, they look good, light too

I been getting in the 20s on the 1950 8t. I been running from 14 to 20 cells gp 3700 and ib 3800. I going to try some limn 3800 on my truck in 6s form. I hope it don't wake it up to much more. Then again it would be nice.

You forgot to answer the main question, here, gentlemen. Yes, guerilla, a 6s or 5s lipo with a 1940/9 or 1940/8 will be a very nice, very fast setup for your supermaxx.

Well this is what i'd do,or like coolhand suggested a few less rpms for more runtime,a 1940/10 on 6s would be my choice for the longest runtime,and only be a little milder than the 9 turn on 6s,all these should do very well on runtime though on 3700mah Lipos.

A 9 turn 1940 will run about 39000 rpm the 8t is 43500.On 6s lipo. I wouldn't run the 8t for so many rpm.

No me neither,that's why i said 5s for the 8 turn.

I like 38000 rpm typically or 35000 for a little more runtime.


I run my smaller motors at those higher rpms occasionally (around 46K rpm) but they get much hotter much quicker.
