This is interesting: Sky RC brushless motor checker

Check out what I found at tower? Any ideas if it is worth a crap? Wonder how it works?

It's probably just a basic ESC with HE sensors/shunts on each phase to take the various readings with current limiting for potentially bad motors.

I like how the label includes motor "break-in" as a feature.

Something like that would be nice to see if you have a partially (or fully) burnt phase without risking ESCs...

It would have been nice if it accepted standard 12v power source though. Looks like it was meant to power it via 2s lipo. But being rated for a max of 18A, I don't think that standard crappy power jack is meant for much beyond 7-10A.

I was looking at that when they first came out a good while back. It never became popular. Is good for the small motors and meant for the racers to weed out their low performing motors. But it's useless now as, you can just up the timing, boost, turbo and whatnot within the esc for more power.

An Eagletree is a better value.

Yeah, I figured it was a limited use tool. Aimed at the racers too.

I watched a review from the hobbypartz version.

Found it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIF1ZLqup_Y

I believe it came under Team Powers name back in mid 2009.
