New 9920/10xl steering sluggish
Guys, i got it up and runnin last night...at first, it was FAST! But my steering is real non responsive, sluggish like. I haven't had it on a very good run yet, but from what i can tell, it steers slowly?
Also, reverse was faster than forward, which i think i cured by removing the jumper and putting it back in, but had to do it again as things were backwards after that. Make sense? |
you have to remember that your sterring will only be as good as your rec batteries are ...that's where it gets it power from.....but onc eyou get your UBEC....that will power the steering servo.......also my steering wsa sluggish at first till I adjusted my radio......check the email I sent ya....It tells you which point to change for the steering to be better along with the throttle....

What servo are you running?

I'm at work so i can't look at it. But i think it's something like the hi tec mg625? does that sound right?

It was may more responsive with my stock setup...but i think it's the battery pack i'm using until i get my ubec...

it's either the rx pack or the radio end points or both.....I'm running a hitec HS5465 digital servo for steering.....neweuser...it sounds like you have the hitec hs645MG servo...

that could be..sounds about right. wasn't sure, it's fairly new. My well known, as you may know sj how much i love my LHS, didn;t have the one i wanted. so i improvised....

Endpoints are not the problem, you need a stronger servo, like a 645 hitech. It doesn't matter what brand, but you really need a servo with a torque rating over 100oz.in I use a 620mg bluebird servo in my revo G2R and it has 140oz.in with a JR XS3 and so long as you set the endpoints right, it will be ok.

the servo ratings differ from 4v to 6v.....big differance in oz. of torque...
example... hitec 645mg Operating Speed (4.8V): 0.24sec/60 degrees at no load Operating Speed (6.0V): 0.20sec/60 degrees at no load Stall Torque (4.8V): 106.93 oz/in. (7.7kg.cm) Stall Torque (6.0V): 133.31 oz/in. (9.6kg.cm) hitec 5645 Operating Speed (4.8V): 0.18sec/60 degrees at no load Operating Speed (6.0V): 0.15sec/60 degrees at no load Stall Torque (4.8V): 143oz/in. It has been mentioned already, but the most likely culprit for a slow steering servo (aside from a slow servo) is using the built-in BEC from any non-Novak controller. They all provide 5V for the BEC, whereas an external BEC (UBEC), the Novak HV-Maxx, or a standard receiver pack all provide 6V for the BEC. This makes a HUGE difference in the servo speed and torque.

My servo is the Hi tec mg625hs. But it worked fine with my hv maxx

Hitec625HS....the hs stands for high speed....in case your wondering Operating Speed (4.8V): 0.16sec/60 degrees at no load Operating Speed (6.0V): 0.13sec/60 degrees at no load Stall Torque (4.8V): 76.37 oz/in.
