Does the Ice HV ESC alloy cooling fins come off??
As title says...
I have a few things going in for anodising soon... and i want to get the ESC matching... I am going to leave the motor green... but would like the esc red. I havent given it a go yet, but have people removed this green part of the esc without damage? Is it easy? http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/a...3-08081231.jpg |
i know plenty of people have taken MMMs apart... but has anyone taken an Ice apart???
Will i void warrenty taking it apart for anodising? |
I've had one apart. My XL when it smoked :-)
There is an upper and a lower half, both connected to the outter row of FETs top and bottom on the board. The thermal adhesive used to to retain the halves gets soft when heated (or in my meltdown just turns to grease). I'm sure you could heat the ESC to ~200'f with a heat gun and it would come apart without significant risk to the FETs. You would of course be voiding the warranty. I'll likley pull apart a ICE HV 80 in the next few months to make an ultra small HV with liquid cooling. I'll take lots of pics and maybe a video of it while it's apart... http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...5/IMG_0195.jpg |
thanks for the pics bud! but i think i will give this dodgy mod a miss for now haha
im a little worried about playing with parts that i cant see through or have no experience with... |
