U.S airstrikes on libya
Anyone else here about the airstrikes on Lybian air defenses? Obama says there will be no ground troops, and that we are just going to protect civilians.
IMHO,since we took out air defences I can only assume that more airstrke's are to come by non-stealth aircraft to cover what I believe is going to be a coup in there gov't by Pro American forces. Anyone else have any info? And any guesses on who is going to be the first to call us murderers for this? |
US, British & French forces have all launched strikes. The UN approved of this a while ago after Gaddafi refused to back down
A picture of a Lybian plane biting the dust... http://images.smh.com.au/2011/03/19/...hter-420x0.jpg |
Hot damn, that's a hell of a picture! I guess it should ave been painfully obvious that libya wouldn't stand a chance against any UN aircraft,I'm glad to know atleast we didn't go in alone.
|
Err...
That was a plane captured by the rebels ( good guys ), being shot down by Gaddafi's forces ( anti-aircraft fire )- unrelated to UN forces actions. |
I've read stuff saying it could be rebels or Libyan forces and they weren't sure,if I'm wrong, well,I fell dumb...
|
Isnt that plane an older Mig, I forget which number? If so that'd make it a Libyan aircraft. I dont think the French have a Jet like that. NM I misread an earlier post ROFL!
|
I believe it's a mig-29 fulcrum,I'm not certain though.as i love western aircraft,not eastern garbage ;D

Not sure
Not really sure whats going on over there. At first it was just the French who got tired of the crap Gadafie was doing and authorization was received for strikes a few days ago to move in, but everyone was hitting on the fact that US forces had not done squat yet. So its about time we got involved and did something to help turn the tides on this idiot. How many times does someone like this have to say that he does not give a rats a$$ about the people of his so called country, before he is taken out. He already stated that he would burn the entire country to the ground before he lets anyone remove him from his post as their supreme leader. He is obviously deranged and insane with power just like Sadam Husane was. Now lets see him in front of a judge and his people just like Husane before they hang him. Then Lybia can move on with some kind of Demicratic Gov and begin to live like a free country of the people. Personally I am glad to see that all of these countries are getting tired of being shit on by their own Gov's and standing up to have them removed for a better way of life. Free world order.

Libya has MIG-25s only no 29s. And the "best" aircraft they have is old SU-24MK and they have only few of them that actually work.
|
Sorry guys, I think we need to back up and fix things HERE first.
Let the rest of the world deal with their own problems while we deal with ours. Our economy should be THE priority for the time being. |

Afghanistan Iraq Vietnam Persian Gulf Korea WW11 WW1 http://americanveterans.homestead.com/links.html It's a long held tradition of American Governments to stick their nose into other countries business if it suits their own needs in the short or long term ( *cough* oil & resources *cough* ), cant turn around and say you shouldnt be interfering on this occasion. As it happens, American forces are not being deployed on the ground & are only providing air-support in Libya ( who have lots of oil )... |
Please guys, don't let this thread turn into another debate on whether or not the us should or should not be somewhere. I should have re titled the thread "UN airstrikes" because this is a joint operation. These people needed protection from there own insane leader, and if we give them a chance they can hang him like saddam and have a chance at a democratic gov't.
And Neil,WW1 and 2 we were asked to help, and when we don't help we give materials AKA the lend lease program to great britian during ww2... |
