SV2 / SCT Sidewinder ?

I have seen conflicting information is the SV2 Sidewinder and the SCT Sidewinder the same ESC? If they are why two different names and if they are not what is the difference?

They were confirmed by castle to be the same in another thread. Branding an the sct came out when they still were selling the old sidewinders.

I think the difference is the motor that comes with the combo(s) and price.I could be wrong.

They are the exact same speed controller, save for the label on the bottom. The difference is with the motor they are being packaged with. The Sidewinder SCT comes with the 1410/1Y 3800kv 4-pole motor. The Sidewinder V2 is currently being packaged with the 2-pole 36mm motors (4600, 5700, 6900 and 7700kv).

Is the Sidewinder V2 2-pole 36mm motors the same as old sidewinder motors?

Castle have gone over to a rebuildable motor design for the cms36 motors, but they are essentially the same motors in terms of power/ kv options, yes:

I've heard rumor that the CMS line of motor is going to be phased out in favor of 4 pole motors. Is there any truth to this?

But... perhaps sometimes the stickers either go on the wrong ESC or different versions of the f/w causes one to be identified as the other? I installed 2 Sidewinder SCT's for others. One was identified by the Castle Link s/w as an SCT, and the other as an SV2. It didn't really matter to me since I was pretty sure they were the same ESC.
