hv novak equivalent?
 

What is the equivalent brushless lenner/warrior setup to the hv novak brushless setup?
Also the emaxx can supposedly run at 30mph with twin 7cells in standard config, and then hv novak claims 32 to 38 mph. In oz dollars that is an expensive extra few mph, has anybody tried to lighten their truck and gain a similar speed?

Hopefully somebody has some ideas, sorry but since I'm in oz i suspect that i will be asleep when you guys may be online.
By the way, the site is great, good ideas and I haven't found any slanging matchs yet which is a refreshing change.

There are a few folks that have reached 35+ mph with the stock e-maxx drivetrain. It is much easier to accomplish this with a brushless system, though. You could look at it as if it is an expensive way to achieve a few mph, but there are several other benefits in addition to the speed/power increase. Runtime/efficiency is one such advantage. Also, the brushless systems require little to no maintenance (while the titans will wear out) and will perform equally well years down the road. For similar performance to the Novak HV system, I would say the Lehner basicxl 2400 or 2800 motor and warrior 9918 controller would be a close matchup. These systems can take more voltage as well, so they could easily drastically outperorm the Novak, but on 12 cells, they would be close in performance (2800 will likely be slightly faster).

oh cool, i cant wait! I'm going to be purchaseing the 9918, 9l, UBEC, and a pinion for the 5mm motor, as well as the motor clamp/heatsink. What i want to know, is when will you get the pinion gears for the 5mm shafts available, and also when the heatsink/clamp will be available for purchase?

Mike, you suggest the lenner motor not the cheaper 9l, your experience makes me ask why?

With the novak being $280 and the 9918/9l combo being about the same, why go the lenner, does it have more performance, does it give longer run times, reliabity etc.

Sorry to ask so many questions but a lot of the threads dont deal with this directly. By the way, happy for any others comments.

The Lehners will get a better runtime and have slightly less torque than the Fegao "L" motors. They are a smaller motor, which may also accelerate a touch quicker, and they can achieve a slightly better efficiency (hence the longer runtime). This question was regarding a Novak equivilent. The Lehners I suggested will most closely resemble the Novak's performance on 12 cells. The Feigao 10L and 9L will also be close, but with slightly less runtime. Either is a good choice for sure. In terms of bang for your buck, the Feigao motors are tough to beat.
