Yahoo email account
Man this sucks. I have had the same Yahoo email account since the early 90's and although there have been a few small issues over the years I have never lost access for my account. Since moving here to Prague there have been infrequent glitches preventing me from accessing my yahoo mail but usually only for 30 minutes or so. Then after being directed by Microsoft to upgrade to IE9 things became even more erratic. I have IE9 for my internet explorer, and we also use FireFox so we have two browsers available, but no matter which one I use I still can not access my Yahoo email. Today it got worse. I can get into Yahoo OK, and can also access my "MyYahoo" account no problem. I can even click on YahooMail and see the list of MY emails in my account, but if I click on any of my emails I get a (HTTP 404 not found) error. I have tried rebooting, closing one browser and opening another, but nothing will allow me to get into my own emails.
So I got on line with one of their tech's with the Yahoo instant online help line(kind of like instant messenger), and worked through a series of troubleshooting channels, but eventually after talking with three different tech's even they gave up. So then they tell me that they are sending my issue escalating the trouble call to their security team for resolution. When I asked what that means, I was told that I should receive an email within 24 hours from their top security team as they try to resolve the problem. So of course I responded by asking how I would open that email if I cannot get into my email account. Duh, I don't know? was their response. During one of our sessions they told me to end the meeting and re-log in because someone else was monitoring our conversation from the outside. Pretty scary stuff. When I logged back in they told me that there was a third party listening in on our conversation without authorization, even though they said that they were using the latest encryption software available to them. Of course now I have to wonder if someone is tapped into all of my internet communications here locally. Friends have told me that this is all being created by their latest IE "Internet Explorer" updates because they have not fully tested these platforms to make sure they worked properly. All because they were trying to beat the Google Chrome platform as it was being released, and they did not want to be last ones on the market. At least I still have access to RCM, and UE so I can communicate with my friends in here. But I am completely cut off from everyone else in the world who know me through Yahoo email at Jerry2kone. Is anyone else having issues with IE9? What a PITA. So I am wondering if anyone else has been having any issues with Yahoo email, or IE9? |
Try accessing your account through an proxy ore safer an vpn server,
Also you may have some issues with your computer and one of the better software is malwarebyte and avira. |
I had similar issues and it turned out that I had some sort of virus. I wiped the HD and went to win7. All the issues are gone, and win7 is great.

Yahoomail only.
I just got in a little bit ago for about ten minutes or so, but it is off again. It has to be a software issue with Yahoo. I can get into Yahoo itself, and even into my "MyYahoo" account, but the Yahoo mail system seems to be giving me trouble. I have no problems at all doing anything else on the internet. Its just the Yahoo mail account that is giving me trouble. Earlier I was able to get into my email account and even open and read my emails, but if I tried to reply or write an email it would not let me send it, or even save it as a draft. I tried several times to do so.
This is very frustrating, because being overseas this is our main communication venue for keeping in touch with everyone stateside and keeping up with international news such as the nuclear crissis in Japan. I am begining to think that this has something to do with downloading Yahoo's new upgraded account software which was resently launched. Maybe because of where we are the download was incomplete or became corupted somehow. I guess I have little choice but to wait on Yahoo's security team to get back to me when business opens in the USA Friday morning. Its already 1430 on Friday afternoon here in Praha. We rarely have internet issues, but it really sucks when something does go wrong. |
Its got to be yahoo.

I will go ahead and run some scans just in case. Never know. |
Try flushing your DNS cache? Open command prompt ("cmd") and type "ipconfig /flushdns".

Will do

You're not using only MAC address filtering are you? Because it is somewhat easy to hack past that. I would also use WEP or whatever other security features the router supports.
Personally, I prefer a wired connection whenever possible. I ran a network cable from the basement (where my modem/routers/switches are), across the joists, and up through the walls to a CAT5 receptacle plate for each room in the house. This may not be feasible in your case though. My wife (using a Mac) and son (laptop) use wireless, otherwise I would have disabled wireless altogether. |
Wireless
