Should i try and re solder it or should i replace the capacitor?
Replace it. You may be able to solder it so it is workable, but the heat so near the device may not be good.
can you show me a cap that will work?
Im good with the SMT stuff i do work soldering on phones all the time It still works even with the cap disconnected it just cuts out |
Hi,
The critical numbers that you have to look for are: 105C - this is the maximum operating temperature - also points toward the fact that it is low esr. 50v - maximum operating voltage 390uf - universal farad number or capacity. This number can be larger but not smaller. Looks like you need to match the diameter also, length doesn't matter. I would Ebay it. |
so nothing i could pick up at the local radio $h*t?
you might be able to find it at radio shack or another local electronics store. Go take a looksee.
yea i think i will tomorrow.
You won't find caps rated for 105*C at RS, only 85*C, and those are not sufficient....

ah, I didn't know the rat didn't carry high temp caps :)
I ordered my caps from digikey, they have a funky checkout system....but I found them to be the cheapest after shipping was factored in for buying single caps and what not....
Here is the search screen on their site, http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll I tried linking you to a search I already did, but it didn't work...pretty easy search options though. Each cap should be under a buck. |
Eh i just decided to fix it. It seemed easiest
