Upping performance of Truggy servo

I need a little assistance in getting better performance out of my servo or should I drop the one I am running and find another one. I am currently running a servo from PPP Servos. It turns my truggy pretty good but my Jr turns my GTP much faster. The both cars run the same MMM and receiver so how can I boost the performance to the servo without switching. Thanks.

All I can think of is to run a higher BEC voltage.

Is that as simple as running a separate power source to the receiver. If so that is an easy fix...weight is not a problem.

In the programming for the MMM one of the settings is BEC voltage. Make sure you don't exceed the rated voltage of the servo though.

I set all my standard servos at 6v.

Since 6v servos are meant to run off 5 NiMH rx packs (for those nitro guys), and a 5 cell NiXX pack can be around 6.5v (1.3v/cell) for a while before the voltage settles to the nominal 1.2v/cell, you could get away with setting a BEC voltage of around that and be fine.

BEC settings...

I am connected to Castle Link and I don't see an option to adjust the BEC voltage. Am I missing something here? Please let me know. Thanks.

DrKnow must have been thinking of the MMP which has an adjustable BEC. The BEC on the MMM can't be adjusted.

Is this the servo you have?: http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...rticle_id=1053

If that's the case I'd say you'll need to upgrade to a servo with more torque. It's rated for 208 oz-in, most people run 300+ oz-in for truggies. The Hitec 7955TG is somewhat of a "reference standard" for truggy servos, but there are plenty of others out there that will do the job. Savox are becoming very popular. Personally I use a Turnigy HV767 on 7.4V and it's a beast!

Me too. I really like that servo. Power and speed are pretty good even though I have it on dads Erevo with Axial oversized wheels and Big Joes tires. Even when I press the front of the truck down to the ground with my foot the steering moves just as fast as when it is off the ground. Also I am running it @ 8.2V via CC BEC. No issues what so ever. I believe the servo is a MKS rebranded to Turnigy. There are even rebuild gears from MKS that fit straight in. Going to fit one to my RC8T truggy as well.

With most 6V servos I have ran them with a 2S LiFe packs back in the nitro days with no real issues. The 2S LiFe pack is about 6.8V fully charged and my ACE1015 servos performed much better than with Ni-MH pack. I think that most decent servos can take about 0.5-1V above their 6V rating.
