motor mount

i have just taken my motor mount off because it is such a pain to swap spur gears, and as i am experimenting i need to be able to change these easily. I am using the stock mount at the moment and just wondered if any one had any idea's or thoughts on this

what tooth spurs and pinions do you have?

relaxed 03.14.2005 12:21 PM

I have a hv maxx and novak suggests 70/14-16 so that along with i have a 72 spur and the stock gearing this is what i am playing with at the moment

Why would you want to swap Spur gears? It is much easier to swap the pinion. Once I put a Spur gear in I leave it and change my gearing with the pinions.

i am not the most knowligable person on gearing but i wanted to find out the differences if there were none surely novak would have suggested 66/.....and the only way i thought i would find the difference is by experimenting,if there is a short cut to this knowledge iwould welcome it

There are some other guys on this forum that run the HV. If Novak is suggesting a 72T Spur I would go with that and then you can play with the pinion size. Start with their recommendations and then you can go up or down a tooth size to fine tune the gearing for your needs.

I agree with Frank. I would stick to a single spur and change the pinion for experimentation. Each tooth change on the pinion is equivilent to a 3 or 4 tooth change on the spur. If you change the spur from a 66 to a 72, it is almost like dropping a tooth on the pinion.
