My D8Te w/RCM Conversion
Here is my D8Te that I'm almost done with.
I have a few small things to finish and clean up. I bought this as a roller locally and it was in fairly good shape overall. It has; RCM Conversion kit Tekin RX8 ESC w/2000kv motor XP 1015 Steering Servo Spektem tx/rx The RCM conversion kit is really nice. It installed so easy and hid all of the wiring as much as possible. Can't wait to start driving this one, I should have it out and about later on this week. http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...ril2011072.jpg http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...ril2011111.jpg http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...ril2011112.jpg http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...ril2011113.jpg http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...ril2011077.jpg Let me know what you think, Nick |
Nice! :yipi:
I just finished my D8Te and test drove it yesterday! Fun Car, Very Quiet and smooth. Whats your gearing? I setup mine as follows: MMM CC1717 6s Zippy 18/50 Crimefighter LPR and I may up this to 21/50 The car is on rails. Very easy to drive. Can you tell me what that front bumper is? I have seen some of them But I cannot recall the name of the company that makes them... |
Looking good!
I need to give mine a tune up for the summer race season. Bumper looks like a t-bone racing bumper. |
Thanks for the compliments guys. The bumper is a T-Bone bumper. Right now this will be more of a basher for them. If I do go to race it I will probably take the bumper off, we will see.
Right now the gearing is the last thing I'm doing, along with hooking up the steering. I think I'm going to start with 16/50 (if 50t is the stock gear thats in there). Then I will see how that goes and go from there. Nick |
I got the D8T up and running last night/ this morning. Everything looks good so far.
One thing I did notice was the spur and pinion gears being fairly loud. Is this normal with a 1/8th electric conversion with metal gears? Is anyone running a plastic spur on there D8 or D8T? Other than the noise it is all working out well. Everything worked the first time hooking it up, esc programmed on the first try and it was all really easy actually. I just need to wait for my Tekin hotwire to come in then I can start driving it. Does anyone have a good starting point for programming the RX8? Thanks, Nick |
I am trying to determine a starting point for my D8Te. Would this work and be fairly safe to bash with on 4s?
Differential Ratio: 4.3 Transmission Ratio: 1 Other Ratio: 1 Spur Tooth Count: 50 Pinion Tooth Count: 14 Total Voltage: 14.80 Motor KV: 2100 Tire Diameter (inches): 5.8 Tire Ballooning (inches): 1.00 Motor Current Draw: 140 Motor Coil Resistance: 0 Spur/Pinion Ratio: 3.57 : 1 Total Ratio: 15.35714 : 1 Tire Circumference (inches): 24.5 inches (622.41 mm) Rollout: 1.60:1 Total Motor Speed: 31080 RPM Vehicle Speed: 46.96 mph (75.44 km/h) Effective KV Value: 2100 KT constant: 0.64 oz-in/A Motor Torque: 0.47 ft-lbs Final Torque: 7.21 ft-lbs Final Power: 2072 watts (2.8 HP) Then this is what I would use on 5s, does this look good? Differential Ratio: 4.3 Transmission Ratio: 1 Other Ratio: 1 Spur Tooth Count: 50 Pinion Tooth Count: 12 Total Voltage: 18.50 Motor KV: 2100 Tire Diameter (inches): 5.8 Tire Ballooning (inches): 1.00 Motor Current Draw: 140 Motor Coil Resistance: 0 Spur/Pinion Ratio: 4.17 : 1 Total Ratio: 17.91667 : 1 Tire Circumference (inches): 24.5 inches (622.41 mm) Rollout: 1.37:1 Total Motor Speed: 38850 RPM Vehicle Speed: 50.32 mph (80.83 km/h) Effective KV Value: 2100 KT constant: 0.64 oz-in/A Motor Torque: 0.47 ft-lbs Final Torque: 8.41 ft-lbs Final Power: 2590 watts (3.5 HP) Thanks for the help, Nick |

Good call on Mike's center diff plate, I told you that thing is a must! Your gearing and everything looks pretty good. Give it a run and after a few passes check the temps. As for the Rx8 setup, start with 40% brake power and go from there. Oh and use FWD/DEL, it's forward with brake but a delay between brake and reverse. |
Nice D8Te there fella, makes me want to get my NIB D8T converted but to many RC projects on the go at the same time!! lol

Here are a few updated pictures of my D8Te.
Nothing new under the hood, just a new body and a few new sets of wheels. http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...C/IMG_7843.jpg http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...C/IMG_7842.jpg Heres the old body. It's the original nitro body with the holes filled in with tape. Still holding together. I run this one at the beach also. http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...C/IMG_7580.jpg Let me know what you think. Nick |
Just got done putting a CC 1520 in the D8T. Just need to wait until tomorrow for the loctite to dry and to program the esc. Then we will be off and running.
Pics in the morning. Nick |
Here are some pics of my new seteup.
CC 1520 1600kv Tekin RX8 14/50 gearing 5s 20c Zipp Lipo The 1520 looks pretty big next to the T8 2000kv. http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...92/RC/0092.jpg http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...92/RC/0182.jpg http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...92/RC/0172.jpg I still need to shorted the motor/esc wires and program the RX8. Can't wait to see what this new motor can do. Nick |
the 1520 is insane, i use it on my d8t and it is almost to much. its lika rocket. i have to be carfull when driving ore im just gonna melt the center diff.
|
it is best to use 6s ore more and bullet connectors.
