Unusual 'rights' group
I'm posting this because the groups title is used in mainstream Aussie media so on that basis I'm assuming it's OK here. Take it down otherwise
SlutWalk...WTF is this about? I haven't got the patience to read through media stories so what better social awareness medium than RCM It seems like a large (probably very large) group of committed women looking to; dress inappropriately - just so they can - in theory - just because I should be able to - not that I really want to - kind of thing?? Honestly, has the world gone mad...I must be missing something |
I saw this, too. Yes, the world has been in a rapid state of decline since women got their rights. To late now, but obviously our forefathers knew something.

How exactly is their behavior helping women? Why is it so many in the feminist movements seem to think that for a woman to be a "real woman" she has to act in they way they say is correct for a woman. I most admire a woman who acts herself despite the influence of others around her. I read some stories about this the other day. I just don't get it. Is this what we encourage our daughters to be? While I strongly believe the women's rights movement started with the most pure of intentions and accomplished many great things, so many have skewed it into something else altogether. Women are to be equal to men and vise versa. This however is far beyond and really not even related to that original message championed in history. It's a danger when groups who purport to protect women and abuses only do so when the women uphold to their personal ideology and political beliefs. When they don't they turn their heads like nothing has happened. |
They are protesting the fact that women are blamed for rape. So they are putting a spin on the word and protesting that rape has nothing to do with how women dress, etc.
I have nothing against what they are doing. If you read some of the published info judges often side with the man, instead of the rape victim. Rape is a big issue, but it seems to be getting worse, I can only imagine it has somethig to do with our current pop culture society which popularizes women as "bitches and hoes" and promotes vilence in general. Plus parents are not discipling their children. Plus there are many young males that lack decent male role models to guide them thru puberty and educate them to respect women. I would not worry about this, as there are much more pressing issues to be worried about. Like gay people not being able to get married or fornicate in public... |
Rape is a horrible thing, and no matter what if a guy rapes a woman he should be punished to the full extent of the law. However I do agree that if a woman dresses like a slut/tramp/stripper it DOES attract attention to rapists, and therefore they may be more likely to get raped wether they "asked" for it or not. Its just common sense.

When chicks dress like tramps they want the attention, just like dangleing a piece of meat in front of a hungry Tiger ?
Of course not all women condone this, I assume the one's that have a complaint about it are prob all fat ugly soccer moms who get no love at home ? Guys whom have no self control and choose to rape are sick-o predators nothing more and should be castrated. |
Ah, I was on the right track
Statistically speaking, rape is more likely by someone known to the victim & uncommon in the way the media often portray these scenarios unfolding, eg; scantily clad women walking down dark alley gets attacked . Therefore to introduce the term slut & trying to reclaim it is a bit absurd to me It's probably just me but it seems increasingly as though every "group" wants to stake out a very wide claim as to what is normal & acceptable. I know if I dress a certain way in certain situations I may attract unwanted attention, such as wearing a pink tutu standing outside the local Hells Angels clubhouse or maybe a tshirt with a stylized punk version of Ganesha to a Hindu ceremony - this is common sense - and it isn't the catalyst for me to form the "I want to dress in a certain way in certain situations action group", I accept it, deal with it & get on with my life. We clearly live in a world where common sense no longer holds much currency |
