HV-Maxx
Just a question,
I lovelovelovelovelovelovelovvved my SS5800 in my stampede. It was amazing. I would really like to purchase another Novak. How would the HV-Maxx perform on a 1/8th scale buggy on 12-14 cells? I'm not looking for absolutely insane speed, but seeing that they claim 35 mph in a stock emaxx, i'm guessing I could see 40-45 in a buggy. Let me know, guys. I love Novaks products. Z |
The problem would be to gear it down low enough to make it happy. The hv has a hi kv. It would be ok if you get that worked out.
Yeh, Leroy is right, the gearing ratio of a buggy is too high for an HVmaxx to put it's power to the ground, without thermalling.
You need some kind of gearbox to get the gearing end ratio a bit more suited for such a high KV motor. |
There may be a way. If you change the diffs to a hotbodies truggy diffs. It would lower your ratio in the diffs from 3.31 to 4.3. If gear it with a 12 51 gearing you could have a final drive of 18.25 to 1. With the small tires of a buggy should be about right.
So i'm guessing an Mtroniks truck on a 9L would run much better?
If you going to buy one. I would go with a 10l instead. It has a lower kv but the buggy has some hi gearing to from the diff.
i would personally go for an xl. they seem to be able to accept a higher or lower gearing better than others.
I really want to run the Mtroniks. Can it handle an 8XL?
Z |
i would think. it just limits you to only 12 cells...why do you want to run it so bad?
Again Zcrusher, with the money you spend on a hv-maxx you could purchase a better bl setup. Just add a litle more money and you won't be sorry, nore disapointed. and theres always an option or gearing down or up with a xl motor. so your truck/buggy/car can be adjusted to the speed or your likings.
your runtime will be better, temps. personally i wouldn't get an hv-maxx. IMO.if i would ever get a bl setup then i would get a set-up that lasts.comon sence. |
Mike L, there is nothing bad about the hv. Granted, its not to powerful but its a great system and has the POTENTIAL to be a powerful setup with the advantages of sensored technology. Novak did there homwork with the esc but the motor is a different story...Its a great system for somebody not wanting alot of power although, you can always turn down the epa on your radio with a sensorless if its to much power. Like you said, I wouldn't get a hv either but im just addicted to a whole lotta power.

I want the Mtroniks because of its great customer support. I dont want to send back a controller that will take 6 months and charge me $75 bucks. Unless you guys think the BK is really worth it.
Well, if you buy it from Mike, you got him standing behind the BK as well, that's worth something too imo..
WEll you have choices now. Bk, MGM, Schulze, and Quark as well. I like the Cell limit on the others over the mtroniks.
You call schulze an option Leroy?
