But then I got bored.... so on with the changes...
Picked up some CF and the dremel and made a new Carbon T1E SS... With all hardware panels and rod ends its 3.5 Oz... http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...k/922cd7a7.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...k/60e6bf5e.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...k/e9d2c464.jpg Motors are getting some attention care of me Holmes and trying something new on the lower links... Fingers crossed the last couple of bits arrive on Sat... |
Lookin' good Arct1k. The CF chassis will help the CG a lot. One of these days I need to pull out my Berg and give it a tune-up.
Edit: Actually, what material was it before? I assumed it was aluminum, but it looks like acetal or some other plastic... The effect on CG probably wont be huge, if it has an effect at all. The chassis will be stiffer, though. Is that better for articulation? |
Very nice job on the CF chassis, it looks factory! Your whole rig looks very clean and well set out, looks like it would do well on the rocks. Good on you for not jumping ship to the VP10 like all the other sheep.
What's_Nitro most chassis are made of 1/8th delrin now days with the T1e being no exception. I look forward to progress. Kieren |
How did you actually cut the CF with just a dremel? It looks really clean!
|
Just used a marker to trace the outline.
Rough cut with a cutting disk. Then sandwich both sides of the chassis with one of the orginal side pieces and used a small sanding drum to finish the outline. Its all by hand and took about 90 mins start to finish. |

The titanium lower links i bought did not pan out so went with stock T1E... Its ready for its first comp outing tomorrow...
The Holmes 20T's feel great - low speed is fantastic. http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...k/f60b196d.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...k/333e18e6.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...k/658e5bfb.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...k/5407f5da.jpg |
