Major tire vibration

I bought a used OFNA Titan monster truck roller, after converting it to brushless I found that at about 30 mph it swirves sharply out of controll. Some suspension adjusting made a small difference. With the truck suspended and all 4 tire off the ground,I ran the rpm's up a little and you could see all 4 tires VIOLENTLY shaking and vibrating.I'm assuming the wheels/tires are out of balance...but at 30 mph? Am I assuming correctly? Is there a solution to this problem? Thanks in advance.

At 30 mph the tires are spinning pretty quick. Make sure they are glued good. What tires are you running with what rims to?

I'm running stock Titan wheels and tires.

Check to see that the foams are not full of mud, this can really unbalance a wheel

If the above tip's don't help, you can glue spot's of hotglue on the tire to balance it, like they do on real 1:1 size rim's with strip's of lead. They do this allot on truggy's now, Ballistic even make's a tire balancer stand thing.

If you can't tell what wheel/tire is wobbling/vibrating, you can use a bolt and a nut to put it in your drill.. and look at it shaking..

it might be water.

This is why I glue the tires really well, and do not drill holes in the rims for air release even though it is recommended to do so...

I punch 4 small holes equidistant along the centre line of the tyre, not the rim
If any water does get in, the centrifugal force ensures it doesn't stay. :003:

coolhandcountry 05.01.2006 06:38 PM

Does that make the tire weak in any way?
It is a good way to keep the water out or get it out.
I would be afraid of making the tire maore likely to blow apart.

The holes arent big, leroy. It wont rip, since your not ripping apart half the rim.

stampy 05.01.2006 06:53 PM

ya i dont like the idea of putting a hole in my tires cause it probly would cause it to rip if youve got some power under the hood

cabking 05.01.2006 06:59 PM

sylvesters right, no more than a 2/3mm hole, I use a leather punch.
I got this tip from the 1:8th rallycoss guys many moons ago, Ive never seen one rip yet and I do have some serious power under the hood. :027:

coolhandcountry 05.01.2006 07:04 PM

What kind of power is under the hood?
Serious power I am thinking 2250 or so.

cabking 05.01.2006 07:23 PM

Well that is serious power chc, and not one Ive had any experience with.
The 7XL on 18 cells is more than a match for my driving skills.:032:
Its still yet to blow a tyre..................we live in hope :027:
