Mm-pro in a truggy ?
 

Can a mm-pro esc handle the current needed to power a 1/8 truggy ? On 4s!

yes.

No! The MMP is a 1/10 ESC, a Truggy is 1/8. Just look at the SC8e RTR which has a MMP with the Neu 2200 but how conservatively have they had to gear it!

If you want a Castle ESC in a 1/8 Truggy, MMM is the choice, MMP is a 1/10 esc.

Trust me it will be fine in a truggy on 4s. Case in point: the Savage Flux 2350. It also has a MMP in it and it seems to work just fine in a 10lb savage on 4s.

I have always been comfortable running a MMP in 1/8 buggy, not so sure I would in a truggy. I do see the argument of the MMP used in the Savage, but personally I would go for a dedicated 1/8 ESC.

i ran a ezrun sc8 120 amp esc in my hellfire and it bulged the caps and blew the bec circuit
same truggy on mmm is sweet
i have another sc8 120 in a savage conversion like 2350 and it runs fine and cool as
the truggy center diff and handling means you can hold full throttle more and they seem to suck more juice than the heavier mts
i have identical motors and the truggy runs hotter and has shorter runtime than the savages

for the price difference i would go mmm or xerun 150 amp in a truggy

You can't really compare the MMpro with an ezrun.

It will be fine in the truggy conservatively geared. As said, if it can handle the savage, the truggy is good.

i agree about truggies being harder on electronics than an MT, such as a savage. truggies can handle more constant power and will drain more power pound for pound than an MT would.

my example of this is my crt x2 and my extended savage flux. the savage is 5lbs heavier and is geared for the same speed as my truggy and the truggy still manages to pull just slightly more power.


back on topic, yes, i believe a MMP can handle a truggy, as long as you keep gearing reasonable and USE GOOD LIPOS. this will alleviate some of the stress on the caps. 6s with a lower kv motor would be ideal though.

ezrun sc8 is a wee powerhouse of an esc so was the old mm and so is the newish mmpro

i was more comparing the savage to the truggy
a system that runs fine in a savage will be pushed harder in the truggy
batteries esc and motor will be hotter and runtimes shorter
savage has wheelies to limit throttle use truggy will just spin the tyres find traction and haul hard
truggy will corner under power better and have throttle on much more

and as we all know about escs more headroom is always good thats why they keep building them bigger

Personally I wouldn't chance it, had enough Castle esc's blow up as it is! My SC8e RTR came with a MMP in it, but I chose not to chance it and through a MMM in there. Savage 2350, SC8e, by putting the MMP instead of an MMM in and gearing it conservatively drops the price and gets people in, but so do Tamiya's and Traxxas cars. A Tamiya TL01 kit came without bearings (used plastic bushings), doesn't mean you shouldn't run bearings in a car, just means it drops the price point to get that initial sale.

What do you intend to do, race or bash? The mmp rating is 100amps, mmm is 120amps. Not huge difference.

Exactly. I think some people underestimate the pro.

I have had one for over a year and have switched it around in different vehicles. The thing just works. I dare to say it's a better ESC than the MMM for the most part.

As long as you are geared conservatively and don't use an extremely amp hungry motor, you will be fine. Honestly, it's a damn site more powerful than a lot of other "1/8th" ESC's out there.

i only use my rc8t ce for racing on a carpettrack with a 4 pole 1515 size 1900kv motor geared 14/50t and this motor usualy don't hit more than 50degres celsius after a pack ! so it can't be that amp hungry lol !
