1515 rear bearing
Hi, is it possible to get the rotor in without removing the rear cover?
as i opened mine up just to check for dirt and so on(it was completly clean inside), but i cant get the rotor to hit the center of the rear bearing, have tried all day without any success.. |
The old novak motors had a plastic sleeve you had to insert down into the motor, then you could slip in the rotor so that the shaft entered the rear bearing with little effort- you could do something similar with the 1515 motor, but the sleeve needs to be stronger and made of non-metalic material ( bit of PVC plastic pipe should work ).

A few sheets of paper should do the trick

Yes, Make sure not to drop the brass spacers off the shaft.

Thanks for all the suggestions, have kind of messed up the kevlar so realy regretting that i dissasembed this thing.
Tried wrapping it in paper, tape, feeler gauge and everything else i could put my hand on that fit inside the hole, without any success. At this point my best bet is to contact castle for repair. Btw i really dont understand why they are using so strange srews, like those holding the rear end bell, today i was visiting several hardware shops and i couldent find a single fitting wrench. Its torx but no torx wrech is fitting:smile: |

It is probably a T6. My T7 doesn't fit at all but the T6 is looser than I would expect. So unless there is a T6.5 :mdr:, it is probably a T6. I got my small Torx bits an an electrincs store but you can get Torx bits in that size from McMaster-Carr for $1.20. (But being in Norway, I guess McMaster doesn't help you much.) |
T6 is way to small and T7 is slightly to large:lol:
|
Torx bits usually flare out a bit toward the handle. You could grind down the end of a T6 and end up with something in between a 6 and 7.

aren't the rear endbells epoxied on anyway?
|
have given this up so want to ship it to castle with an rev 2 mamba xl, but it have gone two days without any reply,, guess they have allot to do.
|
Have they stopped answering mail ore is it only me their ignoring?

Same here sent a mail 4 weeks ago still no answers from CC.

I don't see what the problem is! Put the rotor in the stator and wiggle it around till it starts to sit in the bearing and then push it into the bearing. I never took apart my Castle Neu but my Tekno Neu doesn't have a removable rear end bell and I took that apart and put it back together no problem. Don't be affraid of it!

it just dont want to hit the bearing, i have tried countless of hours and im not afraid of it.
As i mention the kevlar is gone, nor sure if the kevlar is crucial or not but i would rather just ship it in since i already have used a lot of time whit this. |
i know why i couldent get it in.. accually the magnet on rotor had slided forward on the shaft so the shaft was hitting the rear cover.
from all my beating on it i alsmost made an hole in the cover:lol: a new rotor and it slided right in there. Days of struggle on this motor realy payd off, now if castle would answer my mail so i can ship in my maba xl and mamba monster i wil be happy. http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/7458/img061ig.jpg http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/1441/img058fs.jpg |
