CRT.5 brushless basher
Couldn't resist the price: 79.99$ for the pro roller that's a steal. Especially if you know that the car continues as a sct truck (SCRT10-E) so all the parts are still available. That's a sweet deal!!
I found a lot of info on these forums, so thanks. Hopefully I can inspire some people too. Enjoy! Parts used: Ofna Jammin CRT.5 http://www.ofnawarehouse.com/product...oducts_id=1127 RC Monster motormount and lipotray conversionkit OFNA Receiver Box Set (OFN40946), steeringservo: Hitec (5625MG) Futaba receiver Mamba Monster ESC + 2650 kVA 5mm V3 motor currently with a 13T pinion Hyperion 35C 5000 mAh 3s lipo. First I needed to switch to the long chassis to be able to work with a bigger steering servo: http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6168/...d02499b998.jpg IMG_3850 [1280x768] by Gv288, on Flickr http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6179/...ba73799d4b.jpg IMG_3851 [1280x768] by Gv288, on Flickr To protect the investment: T-bones http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6171/...b67788d27f.jpg IMG_3853 [1280x768] by Gv288, on Flickr Lipo fitting: as big as possible :) http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6162/...68d5efb77c.jpg IMG_3866 [1280x768] by Gv288, on Flickr paintwork, not my favorite part http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6153/...6aee683d4d.jpg IMG_3869 [1280x768] by Gv288, on Flickr decals to cover up the paint mistakes ;) http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6170/...82ea347ea6.jpg IMG_3890 [1280x768] by Gv288, on Flickr I Couldn't risk not having enough power, so ..... Photobucket seems to be better at keeping pics up, but they have a ton of site advertising that slows everything down. I guess i should not complain, free is free right.
And good price on the crt.5, especially being the pro version. |
With a shiny body

I just had to put them on (the 2.2" version that is). I changed the frontbomper to a rear model. The rear is smaller and allows full turning of the tires. As a result: wheelies without having to put thicker oil in the diff http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6161/...ea03f03bf7.jpg IMG_3969 [1280x768] by Gv288, on Flickr http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6172/...8299e9791a.jpg IMG_3970 [1280x768] by Gv288, on Flickr http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6167/...ba27049c12.jpg IMG_3973 [1280x768] by Gv288, on Flickr |
am I the only one that has terrible luck with the steering knuckles, and front A arms? Seems like every outting results in a broken knuckle. I've also broken the rear axle carrier. Those knuckles aren't cheap either...I broke 3 of them at the track in one day, on one battery pack. Mines running a 540 can motor too.... guess I just cartwheel it too much. Bought it for my girlfriend but shes kind of afraid to drive it since she doesn't want to break it. (shes broken 2 knuckles, lol)
oh well, looks mean with the mashers. I gotta pick up a set for my savage someday :) |
I've read about those issues. I have the traxxas parts tyo replace the front upper arms and the steeringlink, but I'm not going to replace them before they break.
And for now everything is still good |
That is a great deal. I always enjoyed my .5.
I never really broke any knuckles, but I did break the servo saver a couple times on before I moved the rod to the inner position. I also have a set of mashers for mine, altho its impossible to keep the F wheels down. One trick I do like with the mashers are to mount them on the TRX 2.8" rims. I cut the beads off, then mount them inside the new rims. Same size, but much less ballooning and a bit better handling. Original thread from way back when http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...4/IMG_5293.jpg |

Do you have a picture of this, I don't really understand what you mean. I also have a set of mashers for mine, altho its impossible to keep the F wheels down. Sounds like a good idea. I taped mine, so the ballooning is ok but steering is far worse Love your paintwork  |
Thanks on the paint. It was first airbrush job. Screwed a bunch of things up, but still came out ok. Still have the shell, but it is very rough from all the bashing.

What's the extra F bumper?

In the pictures with the mashers it's the rearbumper. Both are a direct fit, they come with longer screws for a perfect fit. I really love those T-bones. I'm installing them on al my vehicles |
awesome car dude!!!
