Got me a used RCM CRT.5

I recently got a used RCM CRT.5 as Mike shop is out of stock. The truggy been around the block and was originally from one RCM member and exchange a few hands before I got it.

I must say that I like the chassis and battery tray alot. I just swapped out all my old crt.5 stuff onto the chassis. Runs great on 2s. I'll swap the motor out for a 1506 6800kv Neu motor or C40-5L hacker depending if the Rspro can take it.

Did you do the black braid motor wire covers? How do you keep it from fraying at the motor end without shrink tube? Looks like it would be fun to drive. It needs a few more caps on it. Oh no! Your lipo is still plugged in.

Thanks

I melt the ends of the braid wires with my soldering iron. Doesn't fray after that. I use the heat shrink just to make it look pretty. About the caps:smile::smile: ; 4 caps are for the Rspro to keep it running cooler. I also put a heatsink on the bottom fets a while back. The big cap is for the sorry little rx that works with my React.

Truck looks good. I'm glad to see that you are getting some use out of it. It was a fun truck when I owned it.

Nick, I still have all the stuff that came with the truck. I just swapped over the whole assembly from my old one to the RCM chassis, in case you were wondering what happend with the Jato shocks and such.

I installed the 1506 6800kv motor and it was a turd on 2s. Plenty of bottom end, but no topend. I then increased the timing and it woke up, but overheated the ESC. I blew the copper power trace inside the battery twice. I just added more copper to the battery and it's holding up now. I got rid of the bullet connectors and hard wired it while I was add it. Swapped the motor out for a C40-5L Hacker with a 17T pinion. I'll see what happens with that setup.

Thanks for the info. I've also been working with colored braiding. It's becoming an art form more and more. I put it on my lipo mains to help differentiate packs from each other. Every time I braid my Castle ESC's(PITA) I have bad luck and end up having to cut the wires off to send it in for a (eventual:whistle:)warranty replacement. (MMXL, IceHV60)

I singe the ends with a bic or cut it with a hot razor to cauterize it. Then I heat shrink over it and the exposed connector together.

Coulda asked, I'll sell yours back to you :na:

I'll gps it soon enough and post an 2s official speed. It's pretty fast as you can see in the vid.
