MMM Waterproofing?
 

I was thinking about doing this but not until my one year warranty is up (I have about 6 more months) unless any of you have done it on here without any problems. I know there are many ways to do it and i was wondering what you guys recommend. castle says that its "splashproof" but it can get kinda wet here especially in the spring and it would be nice to go boating in the creek in the woods behind my house and in the creek behind my friends house (Mustang63). If i do waterproof it Id look at getting a dewalt and making a custom motor mount to squeeze it into my muggy cus i'm not gonna put my brushless through that. Any help/ideas/advice is appreciated!

Oh and for some reason I cant get the LST forum at hdrcvideos.com to work:neutral: it takes me to some weird search engine thing. Does anyone else have this problem???

As for the issue with the other site/forum- ask them what's up as it is nothing to do with rc-monster, can't say I've ever visited there either.

I can't help on the MMm waterproofing, but the lst forum goes down every once in a while. This seems to be the longest though. PM Bondo, he might know what's up.

The weird thing is other people havent had any problems with the lst forums but i dont know. Thanks neil ill look through all those links later.

im going to get some of those outerwear covers i think. they seem really similar to pantyhose though?

I think I'm going to get the Outerwears cover too. I haven't checked out the links Neil provided, but I did do a search and unless you get the search words exact, you'll spend forever sifting through posts.

I want to know this: For those who have used CorrisionX (or something similar) over a year or more ago... did it lead to any problems? At one point this was "unproven in the long term). I think it's been long enough for a "It works and won't eventually smoke your ESC" determination. Because really that seems like the way to go if it works long term.

I read here or in another forum that CC will allow you to pay for repair, even if the ESC you send back is covered in CorrosionX. So, it voids the warranty, but it doesn't affect the results after the warranty is up.

Another important thing to remember if driving in snow... is that Lipos don't like getting cold! So make sure you allow it to warm up before you take it out, and before you recharge it (Or so I've heard).

The outerwears are made of a fine nylon mesh which is pretty tough and hard to rip or cut, they are nothing like thin tights which tear if you look at them wrong. The pantyhose ( why does America give everything a strange name... :lol: ) are good for use as a dirt filter is you stretch them over your esc however, they don't restrict air-flow and keep out most dust, stones & grass.

Thanks i was just going by the pictures I have no clue what theyre made of but I was going to get some but shipping was like $8.50! I'm not paying that for a $15 piece of fabric. I'll just run it how it is for now unless I get excessive snow on it. But corrosion X or plastidip sounds promising...

I remember when the first bunch of Savage Flux XP's had issues with the MMM speedies frying on 6s Lipo, one person had an outerwear on the ESC and the forum 'experts' were VERY quick to call that the reason for the ESC blowing it's top.

That wouldn't be the reason why cus they're not that popular and if its rated for 6s it should be able to handle it as long as it isn't majorly tampered with and an outerwear cover is nothing that would hurt it.

Not saying that was the reason it fried, just saying thats what a lot of people blamed.

Fine nylon mesh repels water- just like a nylon bag or jacket. It doesn't work so well if the material is drenched or submerged, but splashes of water will just bead up & roll off.

I wouldn't like to wrap an esc too tightly in an outerwears cover as that will restrict airflow somewhat- the kid whom killed his Flux esc had wrapped his esc in an outerwears, geared for 100mph, was running 6s lipo & was also running massive 40 series Big Joe tires = perfect way to fry any esc really...
